lace cake card b

I am in love with the new In Color lace! I was afraid it would be stiff and crunchy, but it’s soft and sooooo easy to work with.

I pulled out the new Build a Birthday stamp set intending to stamp a layered cake. Then I thought I might like to use the new lace on the cake. Then I decided to stamp just the cake stand (Crushed Curry) and make the layers entirely from the lace. It reminds me of some of the lacy wedding cakes I’ve seen, although it could certainly be a birthday cake. I stamped the cake stand on Whisper White card stock, then glued the ribbon in the layers, then fussy cut the whole thing to glue onto the card front.

The fun banners in the background are from the new Cherry on Top DSP stack. They’re very cheery and festive, don’t you think?

The new Blossom Accents in Watermelon Wonder and Cucumber Crush line the base of the cake (Mini Glue Dots are great for these) and a Watercolor Wonder card stock bow, cut with a die from the Mini Treat Bag Framelits, graces the top.

I will stamp a sentiment inside the card as soon as I decide whether it will be a birthday card, a wedding card, or even a retirement card. I’ll wait to see what comes up first.
