It seems families are scattered all over the country nowadays. So a lot of people go back to their hometown for the holidays. Today’s Christmas card is about that. Whether you’re the one traveling home or the one who lives there, this card shares your heart with the other. And the colors make it perfect for a man – why do male cards seem so scarce?
Here’s what I made:
Here’s what I did:
Cut and scored with my Stampin’ Trimmer:
- Whisper White Thick card stock (CS) cut to 4-1/4″ x 11″, then scored in half at 5-1/2″
- Night of Navy CS cut to 4″ x 5-1/4″
- Smoky Slate CS cut to 4″ x 5-1/4″
Stamped with the Hearts Come Home stamp set:
- sentiment in Night of Navy ink onto a scrap of Whisper White Thick CS
Die cut using the Hometown Greetings Edgelits:
- Smoky Slate layer with one of the Edgelits dies
- Night of Navy layer with the multiple stars die, to create stars in the sky
Die cut using the Stitched Shapes Framelits:
- sentiment
Assembled the card:
- Night of Navy ribbon adhered to the Smoky Slate layer with Tear & Tape
- Whisper White ribbon adhered to the Smoky Slate ribbon with Tear & Tape
- Smoky Slate layer glued onto the Night of Navy layer, lining up the bottom edges
- Night of Navy layer glued onto the card front
- sentiment adhered to the Smoky Slate layer, over the ribbons, with Stampin’ Dimensionals

How simply gorgeous this is!
Thank you, Brian.
Candy I love this, its clean simplicity shows off the beauty of this bundle. The ribbons add just the right touch, they’re the perfect accent.
Thanks, Robbye! This is an awesome bundle that makes spectacular cards so easy.
Your card is simply beautiful and I attempted to CASE, however I am having a problem with the square star die. It leaves the impression of the outer edges of the die so my stars like groups of little squares. Any tips you could share?
Hi, Pat! It sounds like you have a little too much pressure in your Big Shot sandwich. What I would recommend trying first is running the die cut piece of paper through the Big Shot again without a die. If you have new clear plates, run it through by itself between them. If you have older, marred plates (don’t we all?) do the same thing but put the die cut piece between two pieces of paper. That should press out any left over dents. Let me know if it helps or not.
Thanks so much for the swift reply, Candy. I tried both things you suggested and it did help. Still not perfect, but much better. I agree that the problem must be with the pressure in my Big Shot. I guess I’ll have to try using different plates and sandwiches until I come up with the right combo. Really appreciate your input and help!
