Sneak Peek: Wood Crate Framelits & Wood Textures DSP

A couple weeks ago I had the honor of presenting the new Wood Textures Suite at Stampin’ Up!’s OnStage event. I made quite a few samples, which I had planned to share with you closer to June 1, when the new 2017-2018 Annual Catalog goes live. But since I’ve been in bed with the flu, and haven’t made anything else, I figured I’d go ahead and give you some sneak peeks of this terrific new suite of products. Today’s card features the Wood Crate Framelits and the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper, along with the Pretty Kitty stamp set.

A huge thanks to my sister, Judy Newsome, for fussy cutting most of the cats for me!

Here’s what I did:

Cut and scored with my Stampin’ Trimmer:

  • Early Espresso card stock (CS) to 4-1/4″ x 11″, then scored in half at 5-1/2″
  • Wood Textures Designer Series Paper (DSP) to 4″ x 5-1/4″ for the background
  • Whisper White CS to 4″ x 5-1/4″ for the inside

Stamped with the Pretty Kitty stamp set:

  • cat images in Basic Black ink onto CS pieces in Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Tip Top Taupe, Smoky Slate, and Whisper White
  • sentiment onto a piece of Wood Textures DSP

Die cut using the Wood Crate Framelits:

  • one crate piece from Wood Textures DSP

Stamped with the Labeler Alphabet Stamp Set:

  • FREE KITTENS in Basic Black ink onto the crate front

Stamped with the Painter’s Palette stamp set:

  • push pin in Basic Black ink onto the front layer of DSP

Die cut using the Mini Treat Bag Framelits:

  • both ends of the sentiment, to create jagged edges

Colored with Stampin’ Write Markers:

  • cat noses and ears in Pink Pirouette
  • bow in Real Red

Fussy cut with Paper Snips:

  • ten cats (my sister Judy helped by fussy cutting a lot of the cats)
  • cut away the tabs, side, and bottom of the crate

Assembled the card:

  • nine cats glued together and onto the back of the crate
  • crate full of cats adhered to front layer of DSP
  • used Paper-Piercing Tool to poke a tiny hole on each side of the push pin
  • threaded a piece of Linen Thread through the poked holes, and adhered the ends to the DSP front with Fast Fuse.
  • adhered the sentiment to the DSP front with Stampin’ Dimensionals, covering the ends of the Linen Thread
  • DSP layer glued to the front of the card base
  • Whisper White CS glued to inside of card base
  • one cat glued to the Whisper White CS inside
