Falling for Leaves for IRBH

Welcome to the InKing Royalty Blog Hop for August! For today’s card, I used a brand new bundle from the 2018 Holiday Catalog called Falling For Leaves (Falling For Leaves stamp set and Detailed Leaves Thinlits Dies.) There are some spectacular images in this bundle. I used one of the simplest ones today. Don’t you just love sneak peeks?

This year’s IRBH themes are inspired by popular songs – this month’s song is “Dog Days Are Over.” You can hear the song at the bottom of this post. While we still feel the heat from a long, hot summer, August is a perfect time of year to start planning our Fall-themed cards. The projects in our hop will showcase Autumn, back-to-school and warm colors – you might even see a dog or two! We are excited to share our creations with you today! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

Here’s what I made:

Here’s what I did:

Cut and scored with my Stampin’ Trimmer:

  • Granny Apple Green card stock (CS) cut to 4-1/4″ x 11″, then scored in half at 5-1/2″
  • Basic Black CS cut to 3-1/2″ x 5-1/2″
  • Share What You Love Designer Series Paper (DSP) cut to 3-1/4″ x 5-1/2″
  • Basic Black CS cut to 2-1/2″ x 4-1/4″
  • Whisper White CS cut to 2-1/4″ x 4-1/4″
  • Whisper White CS cut to 4″ x 5-1/4″ for the inside of the card

Stamped with the Falling For Leaves stamp set:

  • leaf image in Memento Black ink onto a scrap of Whisper White CS (3 times)
  • sentiment in Memento black ink onto the 2-1/4″ x 4-1/4″ Whisper White CS layer
  • NOTE: I only used part of the sentiment stamp. I put the stamp on my Stamparatus and colored only the part I wanted to use using a Basic Black Stampin’ Write marker, then stamped it onto the CS.

Colored using Stampin’ Blends Markers:

  • 3 stamped leaves in Granny Apple Green and Daffodil Delight

Die cut using the Detailed Leaves Thinlits:

  • 3 stamped leaves

Assembled the card:

  • burnished the fold in the card base with a Bone Folder
  • larger Basic Black CS layer glued onto the front of the card base
  • DSP layer glued onto the larger Basic Black layer
  • smaller Basic Black layer glued over the DSP layer
  • stamped Whisper White layer glued onto the smaller Basic Black layer
  • 3 leaves glued onto the stamped layer
  • pulled just a few strands from a piece of Grapefruit Grove twine, then tied them in a bow around the leaf stems

Peaceful Noel Merry Christmas Sneak Peek

Today’s card features a sneak peek of two new products from the 2018 Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog: Peaceful Noel stamp set and Merry Christmas Thinlits Dies. Both of these products are available in a bundle with other products, but I liked them together for this card. I actually started by stamping the wreath in the corner. Then I decided I liked this large die cut sentiment with it. I love how easy it is to mix and match Stampin’ Up! products!

The sentiment is die cut from gold Glimmer Paper. I like the look of glitter, but I do not like the mess it can make. That’s why I have rarely used Glimmer Paper in the past. But beginning in the 2018-2019 Annual Catalog, the Glimmer Paper is new and improved. I was told by someone at Stampin’ Up! that the glitter is now milled into the paper, instead of being glued on top of it. There absolutely is no loss of glittery shine – it looks the same. The available colors may be the same as before, but the paper doesn’t shed any glitter now. I’ve cut it with my trimmer and with paper snips, and I’ve die cut it, and I have yet to find a single piece of loose glitter. Not one! You can rub your finger over it and nothing comes off.  I just can’t tell you how excited I am about this mess free Glimmer Paper. I mean, I’m talking zero glitter mess! Woohoo!

And did I mention there are 3 new colors of Glimmer Paper in the 2018 Holiday Catalog? Copper, Merry Merlot, and Tranquil Tide, which go with the new Joyous Noel Suite.

I Just Miss You with Blended Seasons

Today I’m sharing another card I made using the Blended Seasons stamp set and Watercolor Pencils. I used the leaves and the “I just miss you” sentiment with some Autumnal colors that I blended with a Blender Pen. I cut the sentiment with the Everyday Label Punch. The background is made from card stock in the same Autumnal colors. I cut 4 different colors the same size, then quartered them diagonally. Since I just used one piece from each color, I have enough to make 3 more cards!

Here’s what I made:

Blended Seasons and new Watercolor Pencils combine to make this colorful handmade card. I just miss you. Stampin' Up! #stampcandy

Tic Tac Toe Dragonfly Dreams for OSAT End of Summer Blog Hop

One Stamp at a Time Blog Hop header

It’s time for the OSAT Blog Hop for August! This month we’re doing a Tic Tac Toe challenge. We must choose three items in a row (horizontally, vertically, or diagonally) and include all three on our projects. I used the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set and Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits Dies to create this card and gift container. The container came with cashews in it. Cashews would make a nice little gift, but since I ate the cashews already (they were honey roasted – how could I not?) I washed out the container and now it’s ready for candies or a small gift.

I’ve included a Holiday catalog sneak peek. The wood grain paper is from the new Festive Farmhouse Designer Series Paper, which is part of the new Festive Farmhouse suite. If you can’t wait until September 5 to order from the Holiday catalog, click here to join my team now. You can add the new products to your Starter Kit, and then you can order them on a demonstrator order!

Here’s the Tic Tac Toe challenge:

I went with the left column: Ribbon, DSP, Flowers.

First I used Gray Granite 1/2″ Textured Weave Ribbon on the card. Then I used Festive Farmhouse Designer Series Paper (DSP) on both the card and the container. And I used flowers (Crushed Curry dots) along the bottom of both projects.

The idea is that the critters are flying over a field of yellow flowers with a wooden barn or house in the background. At least that’s what I was going for.

Here’s what I made:

handmade card, nut container, Dragonfly Dreams stamp set, Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits Dies, and Festive Farmhouse DSP for OSAT August Blog Hop, Stampin' Up! #stampcandy

Go Far with Lilypad Lake Card

Today’s card was made using the Lilypad Lake Bundle (Lilypad Lake stamp set and Lakeside Framelits Dies.) I love the sentiment: To see far is one thing…Going there is another. I love to travel to new places. Let me rephrase that. I love to be in new places. I don’t really enjoy the “getting there” part so much. Motion sickness. Very nasty. Anyhoo, I think exploring new and different places enriches the soul. And I encourage everyone to do it as much as they can.

Here’s what I made:

Sea of Textures Thanks for Reaching Out Card

When you want to thank someone for reaching out to you, how better to do it than with an octopus? With eight legs, an octopus can to a lot of reaching out. I used the Sea of Textures bundle (Sea of Textures stamp set & Under the Sea Framelits Dies) along with the Tranquil Textures Designer Series Paper to create this nautical thank you card. The Crumb Cake twine, from the Nature’s Twine pack, is perfect for the look of nautical rope.

Here’s what I did:

Cut and scored with my Stampin’ Trimmer:

  • Sahara Sand card stock (CS) cut to 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, then scored in half at 4-1/4″
  • night of Navy CS cut to 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″
  • Tranquil Textures Designer Series Paper (DSP) cut to 4″ x 5-1/4″ (blue pattern)
  • DSP cut to 4″ x 1″ (Fresh Fig Pattern)
  • Sahara Sand CS cut to 1-1/2″ x 3/4″
  • Optional: Very Vanilla CS cut to 4″ x 5-1/4″ for the inside of the card. The Sahara Sand card base is so light, you really don’t need the Very Vanilla piece.

Stamped with the Sea of Textures stamp set:

  • octopus in Fresh Fig ink onto a scrap of Very Vanilla
  • sentiment in Fresh Fig ink onto the 1-1/2″ x 3/4″ piece of Sahara Sand CS (It may be easier for you to stamp the sentiment first, then cut around it.)

Colored using a Sponge Dauber:

  • just the very edges of the sentiment in Fresh Fig ink

Die cut using the Under the Sea Framelits:

  • octopus
  • fish net from a scrap of Sahara Sand CS
  • NOTE: Depending on your cutter, it may be helpful to use the Precision Base Plate to cut the fish net. Do not use the Precision Base Plate with the octopus die, which doesn’t have much metal and will warp.

Assembled the card:

  • burnished the fold in the card base with a Bone Folder
  • Night of Navy CS layer glued onto the front of the card base
  • large DSP layer glued onto the Night of Navy CS layer
  • Crumb Cake twine wrapped around the small strip of DSP and secured on the back with Tear & Tape
  • DSP strip glued onto the large DSP layer
  • die cut fish net glued over the DSP strip
  • octopus glued over the fishnet
  • another piece of the twine tied into a small bow and adhered to the small DSP strip with a Mini Glue Dot, to the left of the octopus
  • sentiment glued onto the bottom right corner of the large DSP layer
  • Optional: Very Vanilla CS glued onto the inside of the card base
