Botanical Butterfly Gala Trifold Card

Today is the last day of Sale-a-bration 2019. If there’s anything you haven’t gotten, now is the time to do it. You can earn a free Sale-a-bration item with each $50 on an order. Click here to shop Sale-a-bration. I used a Sale-a-bration item on today’s card, the beautiful Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper. In fact, today’s tri-fold card is really all about this paper. I also used the Butterfly Gala Bundle (Butterfly Gala stamp set and Butterfly Duet Punch) which is now back in stock!

Here’s what I did:

Cut and scored with my Stampin’ Trimmer:

  • Basic Black card stock (CS) cut to 12″ x 5-1/2″ , then scored at 4″ and 8″
  • Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper (DSP) cut to 3-7/8″ x 5-3/8″ (3 pieces)
  • Whisper White CS cut to 2-7/8″ x 4-3/8″

Stamped with the Butterfly Gala stamp set:

  • front sentiment in Stazon black ink onto a scrap of Whisper White CS
  • inside sentiment in Stazon black ink onto the Whisper White CS piece
  • butterflies in Stazon black ink onto a scrap of Vellum CS

Cut using the Butterfly Duet Punch:

  • butterflies

Die cut using the Layering Ovals Framelits:

  • front sentiment using a plain oval die
  • scrap of Basic Black CS using a scalloped oval die

Assembled the card:

  • burnished the folds in the card base with a Bone Folder
  • DSP layers glued onto the three sections of the card base
  • front sentiment glued onto the Basic Black CS oval
  • Basic Black oval adhered onto the front DSP layer using Stampin’ Dimensionals
  • butterflies adhered onto the front DSP layer using Stampin’ Dimensionals
  • NOTE: I cut skinny strips from the edge of a sheet of Stampin’ Dimensionals, then applied them to the bodies of the butterflies. I adhered only the bodies, and not the wings, onto the card
  • Whisper White CS glued onto the third DSP layer

So Hoppy Together Sale-a-bration 2019 Mirror Stamping Card

Sale-a-bration 2019 is almost over, but there’s still time! Place your order or join my team by tomorrow, March 31, which is the last day to earn free products when you shop or join. I used the So Hoppy Together stamp set, one of the many Sale-a-bration items you can get for free, to make today’s card. It can be a card of encouragement (if a frog can ride a unicycle, you can do anything!) or congratulations for a job well done. I used the Stamparatus mirror stamping technique. To see another card I made using this technique, check out yesterday’s post here.

Here’s what I did:

Cut and scored with my Stampin’ Trimmer:

  • Basic Gray card stock (CS) cut to 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″, then scored in half at 4-1/4″
  • Real Red CS layer cut to 4-7/8″ x 3-5/8″
  • Whisper White CS layer cut to 4-3/4″ x 3-1/2″
  • Whisper White CS cut to 5-1/4″ x 4″ for the inside of the card

Stamped with the So Hoppy Together stamp set and the Stamparatus:

  • standing frog in Call Me Clover ink onto the right side of the Whisper White CS layer
  • standing frog in Call Me Clover ink onto a Silicone Craft Sheet
  • flipped the Whisper White CS layer horizontally and carefully placed in onto the craft sheet in the Stamparatus
  • stamped the frog again onto the back of the paper (no need to ink up the stamp for this step – you’re just pressing the paper onto the craft sheet to soak up the ink stamped there.)
  • frog on unicycle in Call Me Clover and Basic Black inks (colored the stamp using Stampin’ Write Markers)
  • “you can do anything” sentiment in Memento black ink onto the Whisper White CS for the inside of the card (Oops, I forgot to photograph the inside.)

Stamped with the Labeler Alphabet stamp set:

  • “TA DA” in Memento black ink into the Whisper White CS layer

Colored using Stampin’ Blends Markers:

  • frogs in Granny Apple Green
  • unicycle in Smoky Slate, Basic Black, and Real Red

Assembled the card:

  • burnished the fold in the card base with a Bone Folder
  • Real Red CS layer glued onto the front of the card base
  • Whisper White CS layer glued onto the Real Red CS layer
  • Whisper White CS glued onto the inside of the card base

Another By the Bay Watercolor Card Plus Seaside Embossing Folder

Today I’m sharing another card I made using the By the Bay stamp set with inks and an Aqua Painter. I used the same colors to watercolor the stamped image as I did before, but I cropped it down and matted it with Basic Black cardstock and put it on an background embossed with the Seaside Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. It’s amazing to me how different the two cards look. You can see the first one here.

And even though I colored this one the same way, no two water colored images are the same. That’s something I love about watercolor. Also you don’t have to be so precise as with some other techniques. Look closely and you’ll see that I went outside some of the lines. And I didn’t fill in absolutely all of the image – you can see some white specks here and there (other than the door and house trim I tried to leave white.) And it’s perfectly okay.  It’s very freeing, not feeling like you have to try to be perfect.

S

Here’s what I did:

Cut and scored with my Stampin’ Trimmer:

  • Basic Black card stock (CS) cut to 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″, then scored in half at 4-1/4″
  • Whisper White CS cut to 5-1/4″ x 4″ (2 pieces: one for the inside of the card base, and one to emboss for the front)
  • *Basic Black CS cut to 3-3/8″ x 2-5/8″
  • Watercolor Paper cut to 3-1/4″ x 2-1/2″ (This just happened to be the size after I trimmed it down around the image, and I cut the Basic Black mat* to be 1/8″ larger in both directions.)

Stamped with the By the Bay stamp set:

  • seaside cottage image in black Stazon ink onto a piece of Watercolor Paper (It was originally a bigger piece of paper, but I cut it down to 3-1/4″ x 2-1/2″ after coloring it.)

Embossed using the Seaside Embossing Folder:

  • one of the Whisper White CS pieces

Colored using an Aqua Painter and ink refills:

  • houses in Cherry Cobbler
  • roofs in Basic Gray
  • greenery in Old Olive
  • wall in Gray Granite
  • water in Tranquil Tide
  • sky in Pool Party
  • NOTE: I put dots of ink on a large acrylic block that I used as my palette.
  • For colors you don’t need much of, like the Basic Gray and Cherry Cobbler, you can use a Stampin’ Write Marker to “draw” a little ink on the block.

Assembled the card:

  • burnished the fold in the card base with a Bone Folder
  • embossed layer glued onto the front of the card base
  • watercolor layer glued onto the Basic Black CS layer
  • Basic Black CS layer glued onto the embossed layer
  • Whisper White CS glued onto the inside of the card base
  • I have not yet added a stamped sentiment. If I do I will put it on the inside. Or I may just use it as a blank note card.
