A Quick Note from Candy

Here’s a quick note from Candy:

Happy New Year and New Catalog! I just want to let you know that my blog posts may be sparse for a couple weeks. I’ve been in bed with a bad back since Christmas. I can only get up for short periods of time, so I haven’t been able to make new projects to share with you, which I hate more than the back pain! I will hopefully be up and at ’em very soon. But in the meantime, please don’t give up on me! I appreciate your support for my small business very, very much!

Here’s some cool stuff to check out:

A Woodsy Pearl Note for You

Here’s another feminine card I made with the Wood Textures Suite for the display board at OnStage Savannah last month. I used the Wood Words stamp set and the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper (DSP) to make the card and added pearls as a final dainty touch.

Here’s what I made:

I used the Wood Words stamp set and Wood Textures DSP by Stampin' Up! to make this lovely card. #stampcandy I used the Wood Words stamp set and Wood Textures DSP by Stampin' Up! to make this lovely card. #stampcandy

Here’s what I did:

  • Wood Textures Designer Series Paper (DSP) cut to 5-1/4″ x 4″
  • Whisper White CS cut to 5-1/4″ x 3/4″
  • Wood Textures DSP cut to 5-1/4″ x 1/2″

Stamped with the Wood Words stamp set:

  • floral image in Versamark ink all over the 5-1/4″ x 4″ DSP
  • sentiment in Versamark ink in the center of the DSP strip
  • NOTE: then heat embossed all stamped images in white

Assembled the card:

  • sentiment strip glued onto Whisper White CS strip
  • Whisper White CS strip glued onto DSP layer

Best Fishes With a Bow on Top to the Jar of Love Bundle

I like puns. There, I said it. I do. I think they’re a hoot. Which is just one more reason for me to like the Jar of Love Bundle. Best Fishes – now come on, that’s cute. As is this fishy little card. These are not colors I would usually use together, but I saw them together in an ad and thought they looked interesting: Pool Party, Rich Razzleberry, and Pumpkin Pie.

Here’s what I made:

Cute Best Fishes card made with Jar of Love Bundle by Stampin' Up! #stampcandy

Here’s what I did:

Cut and scored with my Stampin’ Trimmer:

  • Pool Party card stock (CS) to 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″, then scored in half at 4-1/4″
  • Whisper White CS to 2-3/4″ x 3-3/4″

Stamped with the Jar of Love stamp set:

  • jar in Smoky Slate ink onto the 2-3/4″ x 3-3/4″ Whisper White CS
  • jar handle in Smoky Slate ink onto the jar
  • water in Pool Party ink onto the jar
  • fish in Pumpkin Pie ink onto a scrap of Whisper White CS
  • bow in Rich Razzleberry ink onto scrap of Whisper White CS
  • sentiment in Pool Party ink onto scrap of Whisper White CS

Die cut using the Everyday Jars Framelits:

  • fish
  • bow

Cut using the Classic Label Punch:

  • sentiment – cut close to one end of the sentiment, then reinsert the paper and cut the other end
  • Pumpkin Pie CS scrap – shorten it as above
  • Rich Razzleberry CS – leave original size

Embossed using Seaside Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (TIEF):

  • the front of the Pool Party card base

Assembled the Best Fishes card:

  • fish and bow glued onto jar image
  • stamped Whisper White CS glued to embossed front of card base
  • sentiment glued onto Pumpkin Pie CS piece
  • Pumpkin Pie CS glued onto Rich Razzleberry CS piece
  • sentiment stack glued onto card front as shown – normally I would have placed the sentiment lower, but I didn’t want to break up the large embossed area

Technical Difficulties

testpattern

Hmmmm. Well, I have blog posts for the next few days all written and ready to go…..except for the photos. I can’t get the photos onto my computer for anything. I’ve tried uploading them to Dropbox, emailing them to myself, and everything else I can think of, but they just don’t want to make the jump from my phone to my computer. As soon as I can get my technical difficulties figured out, I’ll get the post…um….posted. Thanks for your patience and understanding. And be sure to check back.

Paper Pumpkin Calendar Cards

2015-12 PP kit

For those of you who were fortunate enough to receive the December 2015 Paper Pumpkin (it sold out in record time) which made this lovely calendar, today’s post shows you something you can do with the calendar pages other than, well, using them as a calendar.

I’ve taken each page and made a birthday or anniversary card with it. The pages are larger than the standard 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ cards, so I trim most of them down to fit.

A few pages, like the  January design, would lose too much of the design if trimmed it that much, so I made larger cards to accommodate them.

PP calendar card jan b

The Envelope Punch Board is perfect for making custom sized envelopes such as the ones I needed for these larger cards.

On each card, I circled the date of the birthday/anniversary, and wrote a note inside.

PP calendar card feb b

Paper Pumpkin is a great way to spend 30-60 minutes each month relaxing, crafting, and hanging out with friends. Each month you receive a box full of goodies in the mail. It contains everything you need to complete that month’s project including ink pad(s) and an exclusive stamp set (you might need scissors and adhesive.) A clear acrylic block comes in your first kit to use with all your Paper Pumpkin stamps in the future.

When you subscribe month-to-month the kits are $19.95 per month, which includes shipping. When you buy a prepaid subscription of 6- or 12-months, you save money! See the options here.
