Today I’m using two of the new In Colors: Watermelon Wonder and Cucumber Crush. The flowers and the sentiment are from the new Cottage Greetings stamp set, which I just love. I love the font and I love the images.

The flower stamps were colored with Stampin’ Write Markers and stamped in line using the Stamp-a-ma-jig – one of the greatest stamping tools ever! I marked every 1/4″ in a line. Then I used the Stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp the flowers exactly on the dots. I stamped the taller flowers first, every 1/2″, then filled in between them with the shorter flowers.

The white heat embossed sentiment in the lower right corner helps balance out the flowers in the upper left. Scroll down to the bottom of this post to see everything I used.

The next stop is Dawn Tidd at Tiddbits from Dawn, number 15 on the Pals Blog Hop!  Thanks for visiting; I hope to see you on next month’s Pals Hop!

Big Bright Birthday News

I love the combination of Melon Mambo, Tempting Turquoise, and Whisper White. It’s such a bright, happy looking group of colors.

Sara's bd card c

A few days ago I needed a birthday card in a bit of a hurry (it’s kind of a thing with me lately) so I pulled out this color combo and the Big News stamp set and got to work. The Melon Mambo card base is the only piece of card stock that didn’t come from my stash of paper scraps.

You might think I got too much ink on my stamp so that some of the letters got filled in, but no; that’s the way the stamp looks. All the letters with enclosed spaces are filled. Cute, eh?

I stamped the banner, then fussy cut it with my Paper Snips (the best paper scissors ever!) I attached it with Stampin’ Dimensionals so it would be waving over the big sentiment.

Sara's bd card b

For the piece of card stock on the inside, I stamped everything in Tempting Turquoise, then colored in the candles with Stampin’ Write Markers in Melon Mambo and Daffodil Delight. I left enough room to write a short note with a Stampin’ Write Marker in Tempting Turquoise. All these colors are in the Brights Collection, except of course, Whisper White, which is in the Neutrals Collection.

The whole card took just a few minutes to create. WooHoo!

You’re the Best Cotton Paper Bag

you're the best cotton bag b wm

When I first got the new Cotton Paper I wasn’t sure what to do with it. It seems similar to tissue paper, but it’s slicker and stronger. It comes in 4 colors: Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry, Cucumber Crush, and Watermelon Wonder.

While at a recent weekend retreat, Cindy Schuster (of Nutmeg Creations and the Stampin’ Up Artisan Design Team,) Lana Alsobrook, and I put our heads together to figure out just what we could use it for. Here’s what we came up with.

Using the Mini Treat Bag Framelits Dies, cut the bag from a sheet of Watermelon Wonder Cotton Paper. Stamp flowers in black Staz On ink on the shinier side of the paper. Also stamp the smaller flowers on a 1″ x 8-1/2″ strip of Whisper White card stock. Assemble the bag, then adhere the white strip around the top, overlapping in the back.

For the tag, stamp the sentiment in Versamark ink on Basic Black card stock, heat emboss in white, then cut with the Deco Labels Framelits Dies. Punch a hole in the top with the 1/8″ Handheld Circle Punch, then tie it onto the bag with Basic Black Bakers Twine.

Punch a flower from Watermelon Wonder card stock using the flower punch from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack. Put a Whisper White Candy Dot in the center, then adhere the flower to the tag.

I happened to have a piece of white tissue paper, so I cut along one side with the Fringe Scissors, then tucked it into the bag with the fringe hanging out.

I think our group effort turned out well, don’t you?

Boot-iful Pals May Blog Hop

May Pals Blog Hop Badge

Welcome to the Pals Blog Hop for May where we are preparing for the retirement of some Stampin’ Up! products.  Though it may be goodbye to some very loved supplies, it will make room for the much anticipated new catalog products.  We hope you enjoy the Pals’ creative projects.

You may just be starting the blog hop or may have come from Sue Becker at RnR Stamping, number 3 on the Pals Hop.  If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all the projects.

My card today is very simple. A Pool Party card base topped with a piece of Basic Black card stock. A piece of Watercolor Paper is stamped with images from the Kinda Eclectic (Crushed Curry sun) and Bootiful Occasions (black Staz On boot) stamp sets. I used the Aqua Painter (my favorite coloring tool lately) to paint the boot in Pool Party, and to go over the center part of the sun to give it a more watercolored look than a stamped look. Three Pool Party Candy Dots balance it all out. Super duper easy peasy.

The only retiring item I’ve used today is the Bootiful Occasions stamp set, but everything is from the 2014-2015 Annual catalog. Check back because I’ll begin using brand new products very soon!

May Stamp Club

We had a rip roaring time at Club this month. There was much laughter and merriment, yet in all the fun, we still managed to make two cards: an infinity card and a card using the straw technique.

Here’s the lovely Marenda showing off her two completed projects…

Even with a broken wrist, Margie was able to make her cards!

Parker tried to get some rubbies from the group, but they were busy crafting, so he finally gave up and took a nap on the chair in my stamping studio.
