Meant To Be Mini Gable Treat Boxes

Today I’m sharing some treat boxes I made up for my February Candy Hearts team meeting. We had a small meeting this month so I only made 6. I just love the Lustrous White Mini Gable Boxes (they come in silver, too.) They have a lot of “real estate” to decorate if you want to, but they are just as lovely plain, with their shimmery white surfaces. I took the colors from the All My Love Designer Series Paper, which I had originally intended to use on the boxes, but then changed my mind. I used a Sponge Brayer to color the bottom half of each box, darker at the bottom and lighter at the top. Then I glued on the cut out pieces. I filled the boxes with assorted Dove chocolates, so I’m guessing the Hearts who missed the meeting this month are feeling a little rueful about now.

Lasting Lily and Lily Framelits Sympathy Card

The Lily Framelits Dies will be available in March. They coordinate with the Lasting Lily stamp set, which has been very popular. It’s really gorgeous and has lots of sentiments for times when you just don’t know what to say. And with the dies, you can do so much more with the stamps! I made a pretty simple card for today. I wanted it to be calm and soothing.

Here’s what I did:

Cut and scored with my Stampin’ Trimmer:

  • Balmy Blue card stock (CS) cut to 11″ x 4-1/4″, then scored in half at 5-1/2″
  • Balmy Blue CS cut to 5-1/4″ x 4″
  • Gingham Gala Designer Series Paper (DSP) cut to 4″ x 1″ (Highland Heather)
  • DSP cut to 4″ x 3/4″ (Balmy Blue)
  • Powder Pink CS cut to 4″ x 1″
  • Whisper White CS cut to 5-1/4″ x 4″ for the inside of the card

Stamped with the Hello Cupcake stamp set:

  • sentiment in Highland Heather ink onto a scrap of Whisper White CS
  • cupcake top in Flirty Flamingo ink onto a scrap of Powder Pink CS
  • sprinkles in Highland Heather ink onto the cupcake top
  • cupcake middle in Powder Pink ink onto a scrap of Powder Pink CS
  • cupcake base in Highland Heather ink onto a scrap of Highland Heather CS

Die cut using the Call Me Cupcake Framelits:

  • cupcake top, cupcake middle, and cupcake base images
  • dome from a scrap of Vellum (I trimmed about 1/8″ off the bottom of the dome so it would fit better onto the layer.)
  • cake stand from a scrap of Glossy White CS

Die cut using the Stitched Shapes Framelits:

  • sentiment

Embossed using the Striped Scallops embossing folder:

  • Balmy Blue CS layer

Cut using the Banner Triple Punch:

  • one end of the Powder Pink CS strip and the 2 DSP strips

Assembled the card:

  • burnished the fold in the card base with a Bone Folder
  • embossed Balmy Blue CS layer glued onto the front of the card base
  • 3 punched strips glued together, then glued over the Balmy Blue CS layer, then any extra trimmed off the edge of the card base
  • sentiment glued over the strips
  • cupcake top, middle, and base pieces glued together
  • glue spread all over the top of the cupcake pieces using a sponge dauber, then adhered the dome over the top. If the glue is on the entire piece it won’t be noticeable through the vellum, like it would if there were just a few dots of glue.
  • cake stand glued onto the bottom of the dome
  • cupcake & cake stand adhered onto the Balmy Blue CS layer using Stampin’ Dimensionals, putting dimensionals only on the back of the cupcake and cake stand, so they won’t be seen through the vellum
  • Whisper White CS glued onto the inside of the card base

Exploding Box of Hearts Valentine Card

I know it’s a day past, but I have one more Valentine to share with you. It’s the one I made for my sweet hubby. It’s a card that becomes a box with hearts exploding out of it. The Hardwood background stamp creates the wooden box, and the Meant to Be and Forever Lovely stamp sets provide the sentiments. All the hearts are cut using the Be Mine Framelits Dies (available bundled with the Meant to Be stamp set to save 10%.) The front sentiment is cut out using Circle Punches.

Here’s what I made:

Here’s what I did:

Cut and scored with my Stampin’ Trimmer:

  • Crumb Cake card stock (CS) cut to 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, then scored along the 8-1/2″ side at 2″, 4″, 6″ and 8″, and scored along the 5-1/2″ side at 2-3/4″ through all but the last 2″ section (see template below: score all lines, then cut along solid lines)
  • Real Red CS cut to 1-7/8″ x 2-5/8″ (3 pieces)
  • Real Red CS cut to 1-7/8″ x 5-3/8″ (2 pieces)
  • Whisper White CS cut to 1-3/4″ x 5-1/4″
  • Real Red CS cut to 1/2″ x 8″, then scored at 1/2″, 2-1/2″, 3″, 5″, 5-1/2″, and 7-1/2″
  • Real Red CS cut to 1/2″ x 3″ (one for each heart coming out of the box) You may need to shorten them as needed for each heart.

Valentine card in a box template by Candy Ford #stampcandy

Stamped with the Hardwood stamp:

  • outside of the box in Crumb Cake ink
  • I missed the very bottom of the box, so I cut a 1/2″ strip of Crumb Cake CS, stamped it, and glued it around the bottom of the box to hide my booboo.

Stamped with the Meant to Be stamp set:

  • front sentiment in Real Red ink onto a scrap of Whisper White CS

Stamped with the Forever Lovely stamp set:

  • back sentiment and hearts onto the Whisper White CS layer

Die cut using the Be Mine Framelits:

  • assorted hearts from scraps of Real Red, Crumb Cake, and Whisper White CS, including 3 large Whisper White hearts for the box flaps
  • I cut one of the detailed hearts, but it was too large for the box. I did use the tiny heart that came out of it to glue onto the front sentiment.

Cut using Circle Punches (or you could use the Layering Circles Framelits Dies):

  • front sentiment using the 1-3/4″ punch
  • scrap of Crumc Bake CS using the 2″ punch

Assembled the Valentine:

  • burnished the folds in the card/box , and in the scored strip, with a Bone Folder
  • largest Real Red CS layers glued onto both sides of the back box
  • Whisper White CS layer glued onto the Real Red CS layer on the back
  • front sentiment glued onto the Crumb Cake CS circle
  • Crumb Cake CS circle glued onto the front side of the back of the box, at the top
  • 1/2″ box flap glued onto the inside of the opposite end, to create the body of the box
  • folded down the three box flaps
  • folded the scored strip of CS and inserted it into the box, gluing the 1/2″ sections to the sides of the box. This provided spots to glue the small hearts.
  • Valentine's Day card in a box made by Candy Ford using Meant to Be, Hardwood, and Forever Lovely stamp sets, and Be Mine Framelits Dies by Stampin' Up! #stampcandy

  • a 3″ strip glued to each heart, then glued to a crosspiece inside the box, arranging the hearts as desired. Be sure the hearts don’t go too far out to the side or they will stick out the sides when the card is closed. Mine stick out just a little but, but they push in easily when it’s put into an envelope.

#simplestamping for OSAT February Blog Hop

One Stamp at a Time Blog Hop header

For this month’s OSAT blog hop, we are featuring simple projects. #simplestamping The idea is to use only stamps, ink, and paper. I made mine even simpler by using a premade card from the Whisper White Large Memories & More Cards & Envelopes pack, and a Mini Pizza Box. I stamped directly onto the card, envelope, and box, and BOOM I was done! I used three stamp sets (Here Comes the Sun for the sentiment, Balloon Celebration for the cloud, and Artisan Textures for the rain) and three ink colors (Mango Melody, Daffodil Delight, and Smoky Slate.)

Here’s what I did:

Stamped with the Here Comes the Sun stamp set:

  • sentiment in Mango Melody ink onto the front of the card base and onto the top of the mini pizza box
  • sunshine in Daffodil Delight ink inside the sentiment on both the card and the box
  • sunshine in Daffodil Delight ink onto the front of the envelope (bottom left) and onto the back flap of the envelope (top left)

Stamped with the Balloon Celebration stamp set:

  • cloud in Smoky Slate ink (stamped off once) onto the front of the card base

Stamped with the Artisan Textures stamp set:

  • rain in Smoky Slate ink under the cloud

The cloud and rain were an afterthought. You can leave them off and only use the one stamp set I you prefer.

Assembled the #simplestamping projects:

  • burnished the fold in the card base with a Bone Folder
  • burnished the folds in the box and folded it together
  • DONE!
