Loyal & True Stamp Set, Be Merry DSP, & Cracked Ice

For today’s card, I wanted to make something patriotic, since we have Memorial Day and Independence Day coming before long. I looked at my Designer Series Papers and realized the perfect pattern came from the Be Merry set. While it was designed for Christmas projects, it’s actually quite versatile. See how well it works with the Loyal & True stamp set on this card. The cracked ice technique looks great on this paper, too. It lends a worn, antique look to the card, like it’s seen lots of battle, carried in the pocket of a soldier.

Here’s what I made:

Here’s what I did:

Cut and scored with my Stampin’ Trimmer:

  • Dapper Denim card stock (CS) cut to 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″, then scored in half at 4-1/4″
  • Daffodil Delight CS layer cut to 5-1/4″ x 4″
  • Be Merry Designer Series Paper (DSP) layer cut to 5″ x 3-3/4″
  • Whisper White CS cut to 5-1/4″ x 4″ for the inside of the card

Stamped with the Loyal & True stamp set:

  • sentiment image in Dapper Denim ink onto a scrap of Whisper White CS

Cut using the Best Badge Punch:

  • sentiment image

Cracked Ice Technique:

  • covered the DSP layer with Versamark ink, then covered it in Clear embossing powder, then melted it with a Heat Tool
  • repeated the process 5 more times, to make it 6 layers thick
  • put the DSP layer in a plastic baggie in the freezer for a while (I left it overnight, but I’m sure an hour or so would be fine.)
  • removed the DSP layer from the plastic bag, then bent it in various places with my fingers
  • NOTE: Just bend the paper, don’t fold it, or it may split all the way through

Assembled the card:

  • burnished the fold in the Dapper Denim card base with a Bone Folder
  • Daffodil Delight CS layer glued onto the front of the card base
  • cracker ice DSP layer glued onto the Daffodil Delight CS layer
  • sentiment adhered to the DSP layer using Stampin’ Dimensionals
  • Whisper White CS glue onto the inside of the card base

Five For All Pizza Box for an Over the Hill Birthday Party

It’s a party! My presentation at the Spring Stamp-Along last week was all about party favors, food, and decor for five different types of party. One type was a birthday party for an adult. I haven’t seen the Over the Hill birthday theme used in a long time, so I decided to go with that. I used black and silver for all the projects. The Five For All stamp set has funny birthday sentiments perfect for this theme.

Today I’m sharing a box that could hold a small gift or a party favor. Don’t you just love the Mini Pizza Boxes? And they’re carrying over to the new catalog! Unfortunately, the Five For All stamp set is not. It’s one of the products that will be retiring, so it will be available through May 31, or while supplies last. See all the retiring products HERE.

Here’s what I did:

Cut and scored with my Stampin’ Trimmer:

  • Silver Foil Sheet cut to 3″ x 3″
  • Basic Black card stock (CS) cut to 2-1/2″ x 2-1/2″

Stamped with the Five For All stamp set:

  • sentiment in Versamark ink onto the Basic Black CS square, then heat embossed in silver

Painted using Archival Basic Black ink refill:

  • the outside of the box – let it dry completely before adhering anything to it
  • NOTE: I used an old paintbrush. The ink did stain it, but did not hurt it at all.
  • NOTE: I used an alcohol pad to remove any ink from the inside of the box.

Assembled the project:

  • folded the box together
  • adhered the sentiment onto the Silver Foil Sheet piece using Tear & Tape
  • adhered the Silver Foil Sheet to the top of the box using Stampin’ Dimensionals, being sure to leave a “tunnel” for the ribbon
  • ran ribbon under the Silver Foil Sheet, wrapped it around the box, and tied it on the side
  • applied Metallic Enamel Shapes (silver dots) to the top of the box around the Silver Foil Sheet, to resemble a marquis

Lemon Zest Bundle Bag of Drops

I got to go on the 2016 Stampin’ Up! Incentive Trip, a Mediterranean Cruise. While touring Positano, Italy, famous for their lemons and limoncello, I bought a bag of lemon drops. Wow! They were the best I’ve ever had! They didn’t last long after I got home, so I did an internet search. I found them – you can order them through Amazon.com! They aren’t cheap, and they doesn’t have fast shipping, but oh my, are they worth it! When I decided to give up one of my precious bags of lemon drops for a birthday gift, I knew the Lemon Zest bundle (Lemon Zest stamp set & Lemon Builder Punch) would be perfect. I couldn’t remove the label without destroying the bag, so I opted to cover it. Let me know what you think!

Here’s what I made:

Here’s what I did:

Cut and scored with my Stampin’ Trimmer:

  •  Lemon Lime Twist card stock (CS) cut to 3″ x 6″, then scored in half at 3″

Stamped with the Lemon Zest stamp set:

  • 2 lemons in Daffodil Delight ink onto a scrap of Daffodil Delight CS, then immediately heat embossed them with clear embossing powder, to give them some texture
  • leaves in Lemon Lime Twist ink onto a scrap of Lemon Lime Twist CS
  • two sentiments – one of the front and one on the back – in Basic Black ink
  • NOTE: I used a Black Sharpie marker to add the dots at the ends of the lemons.

Cut using the Lemon Builder Punch:

  • lemons and leaves
  • stem from a scrap of Lemon Lime Twist CS, which I pressed onto the Lemon Lime Twist ink pad to darken it

Cut using the Envelope Punch Board:

  • rounded all four corners of the tag

Assembled the project:

  • burnished the fold in the tag with a Bone Folder
  • lemons and one leaf glued together, then adhered to the tag front using Stampin’ Dimensionals
  • remaining two leaves adhered to the lemons using Stampin’ Dimensionals
  • stem glued to tag front, sticking out from under the lemons
  • lined up the tag over the original one, and adhered it using Tear & Tape
  • Lemon Lime Twist clip added on top for the finishing touch

Big on Birthdays Happy Birthday Card

Do you recognize the texture on this card? It’s the Basket Weave Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. It may not look like basket weave. That’s because I used the other side – the debossed side – of the card stock. I think it makes an interesting pattern that goes well with the lines in the sentiment font. The stamped images are from the Big On Birthdays stamp set. The last little glittery touches are from the Glitter & Clear Epoxy Shapes embellishments.

There’s less than a week left of Sale-A-Bration, which is the only way you can get this embossing folder. It comes in a bundle with the Blossoming Basket stamp set – the bundle is free with a $100 order. Check out the Sale-A-Bration items here.
