Sweet Wishes with Call Me Cupcake

The Hello Cupcake stamp set is free with a $50 purchase through Sale-a-bration. On March 1, a coordinating set of dies, the Call Me Cupcake Framelits Dies, will be available to purchase. The dies make the stamp set so much more versatile! Check out the card I made for today in pastels hues, Balmy Blue, Highland Heather, Powder Pink, and Flirty Flamingo. Isn’t it just the sweetest?

Hello Cupcake stamp set, Sale-a-bration coordination dies, Stampin' Up! #stampcandyS

Here’s what I did:

Cut and scored with my Stampin’ Trimmer:

  • Balmy Blue card stock (CS) cut to 11″ x 4-1/4″, then scored in half at 5-1/2″
  • Balmy Blue CS cut to 5-1/4″ x 4″
  • Gingham Gala Designer Series Paper (DSP) cut to 4″ x 1″ (Highland Heather)
  • DSP cut to 4″ x 3/4″ (Balmy Blue)
  • Powder Pink CS cut to 4″ x 1″
  • Whisper White CS cut to 5-1/4″ x 4″ for the inside of the card

Stamped with the Hello Cupcake stamp set:

  • sentiment in Highland Heather ink onto a scrap of Whisper White CS
  • cupcake top in Flirty Flamingo ink onto a scrap of Powder Pink CS
  • sprinkles in Highland Heather ink onto the cupcake top
  • cupcake middle in Powder Pink ink onto a scrap of Powder Pink CS
  • cupcake base in Highland Heather ink onto a scrap of Highland Heather CS

Die cut using the Call Me Cupcake Framelits:

  • cupcake top, cupcake middle, and cupcake base images
  • dome from a scrap of Vellum (I trimmed about 1/8″ off the bottom of the dome so it would fit better onto the layer.)
  • cake stand from a scrap of Glossy White CS

Die cut using the Stitched Shapes Framelits:

  • sentiment

Embossed using the Striped Scallops embossing folder:

  • Balmy Blue CS layer

Cut using the Banner Triple Punch:

  • one end of the Powder Pink CS strip and the 2 DSP strips

Assembled the card:

  • burnished the fold in the card base with a Bone Folder
  • embossed Balmy Blue CS layer glued onto the front of the card base
  • 3 punched strips glued together, then glued over the Balmy Blue CS layer, then any extra trimmed off the edge of the card base
  • sentiment glued over the strips
  • cupcake top, middle, and base pieces glued together
  • glue spread all over the top of the cupcake pieces using a sponge dauber, then adhered the dome over the top. If the glue is on the entire piece it won’t be noticeable through the vellum, like it would if there were just a few dots of glue.
  • cake stand glued onto the bottom of the dome
  • cupcake & cake stand adhered onto the Balmy Blue CS layer using Stampin’ Dimensionals, putting dimensionals only on the back of the cupcake and cake stand, so they won’t be seen through the vellum
  • Whisper White CS glued onto the inside of the card base

CASE the Designer for GDP176

Today’s card is inspired by this week’s Global Design Project challenge to CASE the designer. I used two stamp sets from the Annual Catalog: the Calls For a Celebration stamp set, and the Hand Delivered host stamp set. I also used Brusho Colour Crystals on one of the layers.

Here’s the GDP176 challenge:

Here’s the SGDP176

Here’s what I made:

To CASE a card is to “copy and selectively edit” or “copy and share everything.” You can copy it exactly or choose a part of it as inspiration. I chose to CASE the circles on Steffi’s card, as well as the multicolor wash and the black sentiment. But I chose to add several layers behind the embossed pieces – I used Shimmery White cardstock for everything.

My multicolor area looks darker in the photos than in person, but I think you get the idea. Also the Brusho colors are a bit deeper than the ink colors Steffi used. Here’s a shot I brightened up to give you a better idea of the colors, but a lot of the white details are lost.

Close up of the white embossed circles. And you can just make out some of the shimmer of the paper, which is hard to photograph, but is very pretty in person.

S

Here’s what I did:

Cut Shimmery White cardstock (CS) layers with my Stampin’ Trimmer:

  • 4-1/4″ x 11″, then scored in half at 5-1/2″ for the card base
  • 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″
  • 4″ x 5-1/4″
  • 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″
  • 3-3/4″ x 5″ (this layer will be embossed in white, see below)
  • cut to 4-1/4″ x 2-3/4″, then after being colored using Brusho (see below) cut it down to 3-3/4″ x 2-1/2″

Colored using Brusho crystals:

  • 4-1/4″ x 2-3/4″ layer:
  • 1) put post it tape along all four edges to hold it down to the grid paper
  • 2) spritzed it with water to get it good and wet
  • 3) sprinkled on Brusho crystals and let the colors run (Prussian Blue along the top, Gamboge in the center, and Brilliant Red along the bottom)
  • 4) allowed the Brusho to dry completely (I’m too impatient to wait, so I used my Heat Tool to speed up the drying time.)

Stamped with the Calls For a Celebration stamp set:

  • sentiment in Versamark ink onto the completely dry Brusho-colored layer, then heat embossed in black
  • used the Embossing Buddy on the Brusho-colored layer before stamping. It helps to prevent the embossing powder from sticking where it shouldn’t.
  • I used the Stamparatus to stamp a few times in Versamark, to make sure I got really good coverage. Since the image has a lot of big solid areas, I wanted to be sure they got filled in with the black embossing.

Stamped with the Hand Delivered stamp set:

  • large balloon cluster in Versamark ink all over the Shimmery White CS cut to 3-3/4″ x 5″, overlapping in places, then heat embossed in white
  • I was careful not to use the part of the stamp image with the strings. I only wanted the circles.

Assembled the card:

  • burnished the fold in the card base with a Bone Folder
  • three plain layers (4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″,  4″ x 5-1/4″, and 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″) glued in size order onto each other, then onto the front of the card base
  • 3-3/4″ x 5″ white embossed layer glued on top of the other layers
  • Brusho sentiment layer glued onto the white embossed layer

Hooray for Your Birthday Statements

The Birthday Statements stamp set is has two spectacular images perfect for coloring. I used an Aqua Painter to color the image on today’s card. That image is the star of the card, backed by the Tufted dynamic embossing folder.

Christmas Traditions In The Woods

Today’s card combines The Christmas Traditions Punch Box with the In The Woods Framelits Dies and the Softly Falling embossing folder to create a soft and sweet holiday card. The colors are Pool Party and Whisper White, with just a little pop of Real Red on the sentiment, which reads, “May Your Season Be Merry & Bright.”

Here’s what I made:

Correction: I later realized that I cut the trees with the Christmas Staircase Thinlits Dies instead of the In the Woods Framelits Dies. They both have a tree and I just forgot which one I used by the time I wrote this blog post. Either one would work great on this card. You can get the set I actually used here: Christmas Staircase Thinlits Dies (144679) 20 dies for $39.

Farmhouse Christmas Card with Snowflake Showcase

For today’s card I combined the Snowflake Showcase with the Farmhouse Christmas stamp set and Joyous Noel Glimmer Paper. I don’t think the photos really do this card justice. The glimmer paper and the heat embossed sentiment really give this card a lot of shine and sparkle.

Here’s what I made:

Snowflake Showcase Christmas card, Stampin' Up!, #stampcandy

Snowflake Showcase Christmas card, Stampin' Up!, #stampcandy

Here’s what I did:

Cut and scored with my Stampin’ Trimmer:

  • Tranquil Tide card stock (CS) cut to 4-1/4″ x 11″, then scored in half at 5-1/2″
  • copper glimmer paper cut to 4″ x 4″
  • copper glimmer paper cut to 4″ x 1-1/8″
  • Whisper White CS cut to 4″ x 5-1/4″ for the inside of the card base

Die cut using the Snowfall Thinlits:

  • largest snowflake from the center of the 4″ x 4″ copper glimmer paper
  • NOTE: Save the snowflake for another project!

Stamped with the Farmhouse Christmas stamp set:

  • sentiment in Versamark ink onto the front of the card base, then heat embossed in copper
  • NOTE: I laid the die cut glimmer paper on the card base and used a pencil to lightly mark the area where I could stamp. Then I stamped and embossed the sentiment before adhering the glimmer paper to the card. If you glue on the glimmer paper first, you are likely to get embossing powder on and around it.

Assembled the card:

  • burnished the fold in the card base with a Bone Folder
  • copper glimmer paper pieces glued onto the front of the card stock
  • Whisper White CS glued onto the inside of the card base
