A spilled Coke made its way into my laptop and caused what Apple calls “Tier 4 damage.” Luckily there is a flat fee for the repair, and it was only a few days before they called to say it was ready to pick up. The reason the repair was so quick is that, well, there was no repair. They just gave me a brand new laptop. I guess “Tier 4” = “totalled.” I’ve been getting it all set up – thank goodness for backups!
