CanYouCaseIt.com has a color challenge this week:

Here’s my project:

This would be perfect as a party favor, or for each place setting at a holiday gathering.
I used Soft Sky, Bermuda Bay, and Island Indigo as my three blues. I cut the Fry Box out of Whisper White Thick Card Stock. Then I sponged the whole thing, inside and out, with the three colors of blue for a marbled/mottled sort of look.

On the front of the box I stamped the sentiment in Versamark ink, then heat embossed it with Clear Stampin’ Embossing Powder.
The All About Sugar stamp set is made to coordinate with the Fry Box Bigz L Die, and the two are available as a bundle to save 15%!

After heat embossing, I colored the entire exterior of the box with Island Indigo ink. This is called the Joseph’s Coat technique. There are a few ways to do this, but the two most efficient are 1) using a brayer, and 2) taking your ink pad directly to the paper. You could also use a Stamping Write Marker, but that will take longer. Be careful as you’re doing this, as the card stock can start to pill if it gets too wet. As it happened, I got it just wet enough to make the fibers stand up a tiny bt, so it looks like suede. I love happy accidents!
I assembled the box by adhering the sides with Tear & Tape. Now I had an Island Indigo Fry Box, with a mottled tri-color sentiment and interior.
The three snowflakes are from the new Snowflake Elements wooden embellishments. Holding each one with tweezers, I pressed it into the Versamark ink pad, then into White Stampin’ Emboss Powder, then heated it with my Heat Tool. I adhered them with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
For the filler, I cut a Glassine Sheet with Fringe Scissors, then crumpled it with my fingers.
I stamped the candy cane from the A Little Something stamp set three times in Island Indigo. I fussy cut them with my Paper Snips, leaving a long stem to stick down into the Glassine filler. (The Snow Place stamp set has a longer, thinner candy cane stamp, but I preferred the fatter one for this project.)

There’s a new weekly challenge called the Global Design Project. Its design team includes some of the most talented paper crafters around. I’m am thrilled to participate in their very first challenge. Here are the colors of the challenge:

And here’s my card:

These colors are so subtle that at first I thought I would need to use a lot of them, just so they would be seen. But then I decided to go very simple with this card, and I think it paid off. Against the Whisper White card base, the soft colors show very well.
I created the wreath with the Wondrous Wreath stamp set, the Wonderful Wreath Framelits Dies, Smoky Slate and Pink Pirouette ink, and So Saffron Candy Dots. By the way, the stamp set and dies are available in a bundle to save 15%!
I cut the sentiment from Pink Pirouette card stock with the Christmas Greetings Thinlits Dies.
Then I glued everything directly to the card base of Thick Whisper White card stock.
That’s it. Easy peasy lemon squeezy!

Here is this week’s CYCI color challenge:

And here’s my card:

This is my first official entry as a CanYouCaseIt Design Team Member. I’m thrilled to be a part of such a talented group!
After stamping the flowers from the Remarkable You stamp set in black Staz-On ink on a piece of Watercolor Paper, I used an Aqua Painter and Early Espresso, Mint Macaron, and Hello Honey inks to watercolor the flowers and background. I was trying for that messy sort of watercolor look, but I still kept pretty close to the lines. I guess I’ll have to practice being messier – something I never thought I would say!

I used the Greetings Thinlits Dies to cut the word HELLO from a piece of Hello Honey card stock. I backed it with a piece of Mint Macaron card stock on which I drew lots of dots with an Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker.
An Early Espresso mat and a Hello Honey card base finish the card.
I made a Mint Macaron envelope using the 2015-2017 In Color Envelope Paper and the Envelope Punch Board. I adhered the leftover die cut HELLO with Multipurpose Liquid Glue (still my favorite adhesive!)

This week’s Pals Paper Arts challenge is to use these three colors…

…and here’s my card.

I love cutting and piecing paper, and I have as far back as I can remember. I had so much fun creating the trellis, vine, and grass, I almost forgot to include a stamped image.
The card base is the new Thick Whisper White card stock. The trellis and sign are cut from the regular Whisper White card stock. The sign image, from the new Stake Your Claim stamp set, is stamped in Night of Navy, and it’s cut with the Handpicked Framelits Dies. I used my Stampin’ Trimmer to cut 1/8″ strips for the trellis. I cut the two cross pieces with the Ovals Collection Framelits Dies.
The card front is Watermelon Wonder card stock that I ran through my Big Shot with the Brick Wall TIEF.
I cut the Cucumber Crush vines with the Bird Builder Punch, and the neatly mown grass is a 1/2″ strip of card stock that I snip-snip-snipped with my Paper Snips.
I cut the Night of Navy flowers with the Petite Petals Punch. The flower centers are the new White Perfect Accents. Some flowers are glued on, and some are attached with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
As an afterthought, I used a Sponge Dauber (item #133773) to add a little Tip Tip Taupe to the edges of the bricks, to the trellis, and to the sign.

Here’s what I used. Click on the images to purchase from my online store.

Jun 11, 2015 | Baby, Cards, Challenges, Color Palette |

Barnyard Babies is one of my favorite new stamp sets. It’s great for baby cards, like I’ve used it here, but it can also be used for other occasions. The animal images are adorable.
Today’s Pals Paper Arts challenge is to use these three colors:

And here’s my card:

While the primary color of this card is whisper White, I did use all three of the specified colors. When I first saw these colors, the only thing I could think of was to dirty up the blue with the browns. That’s when the baby bib came to mind. I think this little fellow must have had some gravy. But at least the bib protected his white shirt underneath!
The Elegant Dots TIEF gave a delicate texture to the “shirt.” Usually the tiny dots would be raised, but I chose to turn the “back” side out so the pattern would be even more subtle. It really reminds me of a baby tee shirt. It also reminds me of “quilted” bathroom tissue, but that’s another card.
The sentiment welcomes the baby. The dirty bib gives the new parents a glimpse of things to come. 😉

Today’s card is for the Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge PPA254. Here’s the color palette:
I didn’t have any Strawberry Slush – it just retired – so I used Melon Mambo instead. Since it’s an alternate color, I tried to use as little of it as possible, making the lion’s share of the card So Saffron and Soft Suede.

The card base is Soft Suede. The front panel is So Saffron with the butterfly image stamped in Soft Suede.
Just a sliver of Melon Mambo card stock peeks out from behind the front panel, and I used a small sentiment from the new You’re So Sweet stamp set with the same color ink.
Here’s what I used:
