Happy Day for CYCI111

HB match up paper designs card c

It’s time for another color challenge from canyoucaseit.com. This week we get to choose our own three colors.

CYCI 111 - March 11-13

Here’s my card:

I chose Lost Lagoon, Old Olive, and Calypso Coral, which were inspired by the Wildflower Fields Designer Series Paper from the Sale-a-bration brochure. You can get this DSP free with any $50 order, but only until March 31!

I used these two sheets out of the DSP pack. The patterns on the Calypso Coral floral and the Whisper White floral line up perfectly. Say “Calypso Coral floral” three time fast!

I turned the sheets so the patterns were going in the same direction, then cut the pieces together. I then trimmed 1/2″ from all four sides of the Whisper White piece. I glued it on to the Calypso Coral piece, lining up the images. I glued this onto the Old Olive card base.

I stamped the sentiment from the Perfect Pairings stamp set (another Sale-a-bration item available only until March 31) in Old Olive onto Whisper White CS. I matted it with a piece of Lost Lagoon CS, stuck on a Calypso Coral Candy Dot, and attached it to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Check back to see what I made with the scraps from this card!

Sunshine on a Cloudy Day for CYCI110 & GDP025

CYCI 110 b wm

Today I’m sharing a card designed for two challenges: this week’s canyoucaseit.com sketch challenge…

CYCI 110

… and this week’s Global Design Project color challenge at www.global-design-project.com.

GDP025 Colour Challenge

This card was a dual effort. My assistant, Jackie Bak, and I worked together on this design. The colors reminded us of sun and clouds, and the sketch reminded us of the sun and its rays. The cloudy sky also reminded us of the weather we’d had here in Atlanta the day before. It was one of those dark, gloomy, rainy days; at noon it felt like evening because it was so dark. Bright side: great napping weather!

We turned the design clockwise to a vertical orientation. The card base is Smoky Slate card stock. We stamped clouds from the Sprinkles of Life stamp set in Basic Gray directly on the card base, then we cut some clouds from Basic Gray CS with the Tree Builder punch and covered some of the stamped ones.

We cut the sun from Daffodil Delight CS with the Circles Collection Framelits, then sponged the edges with Daffodil Delight ink. We cut strips of the same CS and notched the ends with the Banner Triple Punch. These made the sun’s rays.

We stamped the sentiment from the Ray of Sunshine stamp set on two of the rays and left them longer. Both parts of the sentiment are parts of two different stamps. We used “You are my” from the stamp that says “You are my sunshine” and we used “Sunshine” from the stamp that says “Wherever you go, no matter what the weather, always bring your own sunshine.” We used the Basic Gray Stampin’ Write Marker to ink up only the part of the stamps we needed.

Put Your Party Pants On for CYCI 109

CYCI 109 a

It’s time for another color challenge from canyoucaseit.com! Here is this week’s color palette…

CYCI 109

…and here is my card.

CYCI 109 b wm

The official beginning of Spring is just three weeks away, and I am so ready for it! Here in Atlanta, we get lots of rain in the winter instead of snow, so we have lots of gloomy grey days. I’m looking forward to sunny days with the sound of bees buzzing and the smell of flowers and newly mown grass.

This week’s color challenge palette is very bright and Springy. I’m in a better mood just looking at it. So I wanted to make a bright and happy card.

The card base is Heavy Whisper White card stock, with a Tempting Turquoise CS layer and a layer of Daffodil Delight patterned paper from the Brights Designer Series Paper Stack on top. What’s more Springy than these adorable little flowers?

I stamped the sentiment from the brand new Party Pants stamp set (available as a free Sale-a-bration item until March 31!) in Whisper White Craft ink on Tempting Turquoise CS, then heat embossed it in white. I cut it, and two more plain balloons, with the Balloon Bouquet Punch.

I put Snail adhesive on the back of each balloon, then wrapped Whisper White Baker’s Twine around the bottom of each one, securing the twine to the adhesive on the back, then letting the long tail hang. I glued the balloons together in the arrangement I wanted, then adhered them to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I tied a small bow around the strings with another piece of the twine, then attached the back of the bow to the card front with a Glue Dot, pulling the strings taut and straight. I trimmed all the ends, and I was done!

I’m Lost Without…CYCI 108

going places rsr m&t b wm

I try to stay organized and ahead of the game, but sometimes (okay, most times) I lose track. I had to have this post ready by Friday night so the organizer of canyoucaseit.com, Eva Bussom, could get everything set up for the challenge post. Pretty late Friday evening I realized I hadn’t made a card for this week’s challenge. First I panicked, as one does. Then I thought to look through the cards I’ve made but haven’t gotten around to posting yet. Voila! This card that I made at the Rising Star Retreat in Utah fit the sketch to a tee. Problem solved. Well, except for actually getting the post done. Which, obviously, I did, if you’re reading this.

Here is this week’s sketch challenge…

CYCI 108

…and here’s my card.

going places rsr m&t a wm

This card showcases the Going Places suite of products in the 2016 Occasions catalog.

The card base is Lost Lagoon card stock. The next layer is Sahara Sand CS that I stamped by inking up the World Traveler embossing folder with Sahara Sand ink, putting the CS inside, and rubbing it with my hand. It isn’t embossed, only stamped. The hand rubbing is what gives it the worn look, since I didn’t use enough pressure to transfer the ink in some places.

World Traveler TIEF

I also stamped this layer with the constellation stamp from the Going Global stamp set in Archival Basic Black ink, and with the You Mean the World to Me stamp in Sahara Sand ink.

Going Global stamp set

The three pieces of Designer Series Paper are from the Going Places DSP stack. I stamped the globe in Lost Lagoon ink directly onto the DSP and cut it with the 2″ Circle Punch. The two DSP strips are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and the globe is glued onto them.

I stamped the main sentiment with Basic Black on a strip of Very Vanilla CS, then notched the ends with the Banner Triple Punch. I adhered it to the DSP pieces with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I Love You Sew for CYCI 107

CYCI has a new color challenge this week:

CYCI 107

Here’s what I made using these colors:

CYCI 107 love you sew card wm

The card base is Wisteria Wonder card stock. I used Kraft Corrugated Paper to mat the Whisper White CS pieces.

I stamped the sentiment from the Love You Sew stamp set (available to purchase with Stampin’ Rewards through May 31) in Wisteria Wonder on Whisper White, then cut it with the 1-3/4″ Circle Punch. I cut the corrugated mat with the 2″ Circle Punch. I glued the two circles together, then attached them to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I tied Linen Thread onto some Wisteria Wonder buttons, then attached them with Glue Dots to the card front.

Just a Note for CYCI106

It’s time for another sketch challenge from CYCI! Go to canyoucaseit.com to see the other projects and to play along with us by posting your own project! Here is this week’s challenge…

CYCI 106

…and here is my card.

The Picture Perfect stamp set has four different multi-step images: a 3 step flower, a 2 step starfish, a three step leaf, and a 4 step hummingbird. The see through photopolymer stamps make lining up the images a snap.

For today’s card, I’ve used the starfish. On Very Vanilla card stock, I stamped the heavier image, seen on the right in the above image, in Hello Honey. Then I stamped the lighter, more detailed image in Soft Suede over the top of the first one. I did this twice, then used my Paper Snips to cut out the two starfish.

I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set in Pacific Point on a strip of Very Vanilla card stock.

The fish and coral are from the By the Tide stamp set in the Annual catalog. It’s available in wood mount and clear mount.

On the front panel of Pool Party, I stamped the fish in Pacific Point and the coral in, you guessed it, Calypso Coral. I went over the fish with the Clear Wink of Stella Brush to give them a little shimmer. It also made the Pacific Point ink bleed slightly, to make the them stand out from the surrounding water.

I attached the starfish with Stampin’ Dimensionals that I cut into skinny pieces. Then I glued the front panel to a Pacific Point card stock layer, and glued that to the Calypso Coral card base.

Here’s what I used. Click on the images below to get what you need to make your own version of today’s project!
