Today’s guest stamper is Lonita Barron, an honorary member of my Candy Hearts team. Lonita has been a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator for several years, and has recently moved to the Atlanta area from Kentucky. And she has mad skills when it comes to card making! Take a look at the card she made for the June swap.

The card base is Tip Top Taupe card stock with a layer of Affectionately Yours Designer Series Paper. The swirls are cut with the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits dies from Night of Navy, Watermelon Wonder, and Pool Party card stock. The sentiment from the Tin of Cards stamp set is stamped in Night of Navy onto Pool Party card stock. The DSP and the sentiment are sponged around the edges with Night of Navy ink.
Thanks to Lonita for allowing me to share her card with you today!

I recently missed an appointment, not because of traffic or illness, but because I just flat out forgot. This image and sentiment from the Pun Intended host stamp set is perfect for an apology to the person I accidentally stood up.

Here’s how I did it:
The card base and horizontal strip are Peekaboo Peach card stock. The floral is from the 2016-2018 Designer Series Paper Stack. The rest is Whisper White card stock.
I stamped the light in Basic Black and the sentiment in Peekaboo Peach. I added a Peekaboo Peach heart from the 2016-2018 In Color Enamel Shapes.

Here’s what I used:

Jul 8, 2016 | Cards, Gallery, Guest Stamper, New Products, Swaps |

I’m excited to share this card with you today. It was made by Tamara Burton, a member of my Candy Hearts team. It was her swap card at our June team meeting. Tamara has enjoyed scrapbooking for years, then added making cards to her repertoire. Her paper crafting skills are amazing!

Oh dear, I just noticed I misspelled her name in the watermark on the above photo. It’s Tamara. not Tamata! So sorry, Tamara!
Why are cards for guys so hard to make? We all struggle with them. Maybe it’s because most paper crafting products are more feminine, with lots of florals and the like. Maybe it’s because most paper crafters are women. Whatever the reason, we always need ideas.
Tamara used the new By the Shore Designer Series Paper to create this card that’s perfect for any guy.

When you first look at this DSP you might think about cute kid cards, or summery/beachy cards. But Tamara saw past that and used the multi-color striped pattern for a guy’s “shirt.” Coordinating card stock completes the look with a bow tie and buttons. Brilliant!
The Rose Wonder stamp set may seem very feminine, but the script Thank You is perfect for this manly card.

Thanks to Tamara for allowing me to share her card with you today!

Only one week left to RSVP for my July 18 Card Smorgasbord! You can RSVP here or here. Email candy@stampcandy.net with questions and for prepayment information.

Jul 7, 2016 | Baby, Cards, Gallery, New Products |
Who says all baby stuff has to be pastel pink, blue, or yellow? I think it should depend on the personalities and tastes of the parents. So today I’m sharing a card for some not-so-pastel parents-to-be.

The new Pop of Pink Specialty Designer Series Paper is so versatile! One side of each sheet is black and white, and the other has Melon Mambo. For today’s card, I used this pattern of black with white and Melon Mambo hearts, and colored in the little white hearts with a Tempting Turquoise Stampin’ Write Marker.
The card base is Whisper White Thick card stock. I glued the colored DSP to that.
I stamped the badge and banner from the Badges & Banners stamp set, and the bunny and kitty from the Made With Love stamp set, in Basic Black onto Whisper White card stock. I colored in the words on the banner with Tempting Turquoise and Melon mambo markers.
A note on black ink pads: I usually use Archival Basic Black ink with rubber stamps, and Memento Tuxedo Black ink with photopolymer stamps. You can absolutely use both inks with both types of stamps. The Archival ink really stains the photopolymer stamps, which doesn’t hurt them at all, but I prefer to use the Memento so they don’t stain as much. This is just my personal preference.
I colored in the animal’s ears with a Pink Pirouette Stampin’ Write Marker.
I cut the badge with the Best Badge Punch and the banner with the Duet Banner Punch. I used my trusty Paper Snips to cut out the two little critters.
Everything is glued with Multipurpose Liquid Glue except the banner, which is adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
And did I mention that the Badges & Banners stamp set and the Best Badge Punch are available as a bundle to save 10%? Click on the images below to get yours now!

Jul 3, 2016 | Cards, Gallery, New Products, Techniques |

This card, another of the projects from June’s Stamp Club, uses a new stamp set, new Designer Series Paper, new Framelits Dies, and a new adhesive.
The Confetti Celebration stamp set is perfect for shaker cards. The sentiments are perfect for inside a round, square, or star shaped shaker. Today’s card uses the round “HOORAY” sentiment.
The new Pop of Pink Specialty DSP, is amazing. One side of each sheet is black and white, and the other side has Melon Mambo! There are also two specialty sheets of white with gold. For this card I used the black and white bold stripe.
I cut all the pieces of the shaker with the new Layering Circles Framelits. Did you know there are 16 dies in this set? 16!
The shaker is held together with the new Foam Adhesive Strips. These are 1/8″ wide by 9″ long foam strips, and you get 10 yards in a pack for only $8! They are perfect for shaker cards and for spinner cards.
Here’s how I made it:
The card base is Melon Mambo card stock with a Pop of Pink DSP layer glued to it. I stamped the sentiment from the Confetti Celebration stamp set in Melon Mambo directly onto the DSP.
For the shaker, I cut a piece of Whisper White card stock, clear Window Sheet, and Melon Mambo card stock with the same circle die. I used a smaller die to cut the center out of the Melon Mambo piece, making sure the hole was big enough to show the whole stamped sentiment inside. I stamped the sentiment in Basic Black onto the Whisper White card stock piece.
I used Fast Fuse to adhere the Melon Mambo frame to the round Window Sheet piece. I think dry adhesives work better on the Window Sheet that liquids. I put the Foam Adhesive Strip around the perimeter of the white piece, cutting it so the two ends meet with no space between. I put a pinch of Brights Sequins in the middle, then lined up the front with the back and pressed them together. Then I glued the shaker onto the card front.
Here’s a reminder of the layers of the shaker – the sandwich – from top to bottom:
- card stock frame
- Fast Fuse or Tear & Tape adhesive
- window sheet
- Foam Adhesive Strip
- stamped card stock
There is a trick to preventing the sequins from sticking where they shouldn’t. Right before you put in the sequins and stick the two sides of the shaker together, wipe the Window Sheet and the inside of the shaker with the Embossing Buddy. It’s make to prevent static electricity when heat embossing, and it also helps prevent static in your shaker. This will help the sequins, glitter, or whatever you put inside, move freely inside.

Jul 2, 2016 | Cards, Club, Gallery, New Products |

This was one of the projects we made in my June Stamp Club. It uses the new Playful Palette Designer Series Paper Stack. I wasn’t too sure about this paper when I first saw it. The color combinations and patterns seemed odd to me. But then I got it in my hands and started playing with it. That’s all it took. Now I see the versatility of it, and I can think of a zillion projects to use it on.
For today’s card, I started with an Emerald Envy card base and glued on a Basic Black layer and a DSP layer.
I stamped the easel and speckles from the Painter’s Palette stamp set in Basic Black onto Whisper White card stock and matted that with Basic Black.
I stamped the sentiment in Basic Black onto the pink speckled piece of DSP, then cut it out with one of the new Layering Squares Framelits Dies. I glued it to the center of the easel. Then I adhered this smaller panel onto the larger panel at an angle with Stampin’ Dimensionals. (Everything else is glued with Multipurpose Liquid Glue – my favorite!)
That’s it! 4 pieces of card stock, 2 pieces of DSP, 3 stamps, and Basic Black ink.
