Pieced Medallions for Eastern Palace One Sheet Wonder – 9 of 12

We’re three fourths of the way through the Eastern Palace one page wonder! Today I’m sharing card #9. I think this is one of my favorites so far. Maybe it’s the gold thread. Maybe it’s the pieced die cut medallions. Or something else. I don’t know, but I like it. This particular design of the Eastern Palace Designer Series Paper is one of my faves, as well. The pattern reminds me of shirts my dad wore in the early 1960s.

Here’s what I made:

Let's be friends forever! Eastern Palace DSP One Sheet Wonder 9 of 12. Eastern Beauty bundle, Eastern Medallions Thinlits Dies, by Stampin' Up! #stampcandy

Here’s what I did:

Cut and scored with my Stampin’ Trimmer:

  • Fresh Fig card stock (CS) cut to 4-1/4″ x 11″, then scored in half at 5-1/2″
  • Eastern Palace Designer Series Paper (DSP) cut to 4″ x 5-1/4″
  • Very Vanilla CS to 4″ x 5-1/4″, for the inside

Stamped with the Eastern Beauty stamp set:

  • sentiment in Versamark ink onto a scrap of Fresh Fig CS, then heat embossed it in gold:
  • 1) rub the CS with Embossing Buddy, 2) stamp in Versamark, 3) sprinkle embossing powder over stamped area and tap off excess, 4) use heat tool to melt powder and make it shiny

Die cut using the Eastern Medallions Thinlits:

  • scraps of Fresh Fig, Dapper Denim, and Tranquil Tide CS cut with the largest die, and saved all the little cut bits

Die cut using the Layering Circles Framelits:

  • the Tranquil Tide medallion, and a piece of Very Vanilla CS, with a larger die
  • the heat embossed sentiment with a smaller die

Assembled the card:

  • wrapped Gold Metallic Thread around the DSP about 30 times and taped the ends on the back
  • Tranquil Tide Medallion glued onto the Very Vanilla CS circle
  • saved bits from the medallions glued to the Very Vanilla CS circle, inside the Tranquil Tide medallion holes
  • whole medallion stack glued to the DSP, over the gold thread
  • DSP glued to the front of the Fresh Fig card base
  • 4″ x 5-1/4″ Very Vanilla CS glued to inside of the Fresh Fig card base

Here are the colors I used:

TA Blog Hop – Our Annual Catalog Faves

It’s time for the Thailand Achievers’ monthly Blog Hop! This month we’re sharing our favorites from the new 2017-2018 Annual Catalog. I always find this sort of thing very difficult. How can I possibly choose just a few of all the great products Stampin’ Up! offers? But I’ve tried very hard to narrow down the list. I can’t wait to see what all the other hoppers have listed as their faves! You can see the list of links after my faves below. (DSP means Designer Series Paper.)

Here are my faves (well, today anyway):

Color Theory Suite:

Spectacular! The stamp set and dies are A-MAZ-ING! Then there are the coordinating DSP, Card Pack, and Glitter Enamel Dots. (squeal!) When I was making samples for my display boards, I just couldn’t stop playing with this suite. The colors and images take you through all four seasons. And look at that adirondack chair die. Really? It just kills me, it’s so awesome.

Birthday Memories Suite:

Like many new stamp sets and dies, these are bundled to save you 10%, but this bundle also includes the Designer Series Paper! Why? Because the dies coordinate not only with the stamps, but also with the patterns in the DSP! The little storybook characters remind me of the ones I saw as a child. And there are so many coordinating colors in this suite that it will match almost anything.

Wood Textures Suite:

I fell in love with this suite when I received it in March to make samples for the OnStage even in April. At first, I thought, okay, wood, no big deal. But then I started using it. Holy cow! The crate is very versatile, as is the spectacular Wood Textures DSP. In fact, this suite is too versatile not to have. And the Copper Trim! It’s great as is, but you can pull the sides to make it wider, or even put things down in it (it’s woven as a tube then flattened.)

Here we are at number 8 of the 12 one sheet wonder cards I made with a sheet of the Eastern Palace Designer Series Paper. I used the Eastern Beauty Bundle as well at the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set to make this Congratulations card. Eastern Palace One Sheet Wonder 7 of 12 with Medallions

We’re more than halfway through the twelve card one sheet wonder I made with a sheet of the Eastern Palace Designer Series Paper. For today’s card, I also used the Eastern Beauty Bundle (Eastern Beauty stamp set and Eastern Medallions Thinlits dies) and the Classic Label Punch.

Here’s what I made:

Eastern Palace one sheet wonder card 7 of 12. Stampin' Up! #stampcandy

Here’s what I did:

Cut and scored with my Stampin’ Trimmer:

  • Very Vanilla card stock (CS) cut to 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″, then scored in half at 4-1/4″
  • Fresh Fig CS cut to 5-1/4″ x 4″
  • Eastern Palace Designer Series Paper (DSP) cut to 5-1/8″ x 3-7/8″

Stamped with the Eastern Beauty stamp set:

  • sentiment in Dapper Denim ink onto a scrap of Very Vanilla CS

Cut with the Classic Label Punch:

  • sentiment

Die cut using the Eastern Medallions Thinlits:

  • bottom and top medallions from Fresh Fig CS
  • middle medallion from Tranquil Tide CS

Assembled the card:

  • 3 medallions glued together
  • Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals put under the petals of the top medallion, to prop them up – If you aren’t mailing the card, you may choose not to use the Mini Dimensionals. I use them to prevent the petals from flattening when getting mashed in an envelope.
  • a Gold Faceted Gem applied to the center of the top medallion
  • medallion stack glued to the DSP
  • sentiment glued to a scrap of Fresh Fig CS, then used Paper Snips to trim the Fresh Fig CS around the punched shape
  • adhered sentiment to DSP with Stampin’ Dimensionals
  • DSP glued to 5-1/4″ x 4″ Fresh Fig CS layer
  • 5-1/4″ x 4″ Fresh Fig CS layer glued to the front of the Very Vanilla card base

From My Kitchen to Yours Gift Bag with a Pretty Label

Today’s project is a super quick and easy little gift bag made with the new Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper, the Label Me Pretty stamp set, and the Pretty Label Punch. By the way, this stamp set and punch are available as a bundle to save you 10%! Woohoo!

Here’s what I made:

This gift bag was made with the Delightful Daisy DSP and the Label Me Pretty bundle (stamp set and Pretty Label Punch) by Stampin' Up! #stampcandy

Here’s what I did:

Cut and scored with my Stampin’ Trimmer:

  • Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper (DSP) cut to 10-1/2″ x 10″
  • scored along the 10-1/2″ side at 2″, 5″, 7″, and 10″
  • scored along the 10″ side at 2″

Stamped with the Label Me Pretty stamp set:

  • sentiment in Calypso Coral, Old Olive, and Night of Navy inks onto a piece of Whisper White card stock (CS)
  • NOTE: instead of ink pads, I used markers to color the different parts of the stamp

Cut using the Pretty Label Punch:

  • sentiment

Cut using Paper Snips:

  • the 4 score lines along the 10-1/2″ side, but only 2″, up to the score line perpendicular to them (solid lines in diagram below)
  • cut away smallest rectangle (blue area in diagram below)

Assembled the bag:

  • burnished all score lines with a Bone Folder. This step isn’t absolutely necessary, but it makes the difference between an okay bag and a great looking bag.
  • applied glue to the skinny flap and adhered it to the opposite end
  • folded in all the bottom flaps, gluing between all of them
  • turned down the top of the bag twice, and tied a piece of Old Olive 3/8″ Mini Chevron Ribbon around it
  • adhered the punched sentiment to the front of the bag with Stampin’ Dimensionals
  • The last step is to insert some little goodies!

Here’s the diagram:

Wood Crate Shelves for a Baby’s Room

Today’s project may look involved, and it is, to be honest, but I had a great time making it. When I was asked to create a display board for the new Wood Textures Suite at Stampin’ Up!’s OnStage event in April, I looked around for ideas other than just putting treats in a crate. I looked online to see what people do with crates, and by far the most popular thing was to stack them to make shelves. So I decided to do that. I made the crates out of pastel colors of card stock, thinking if this were in a baby’s or child’s room, the crates may have been painted. The items on the shelves are toys, plants, and a few parents’ items.

Today’s project is also a part of Kylie Bertucci’s Blog Highlight for June. The theme this month is Baby, and I thought this project would be perfect.

The top ten winners will get to be part of an international blog hop next month, so please vote for my card. You can do that by clicking on this button:

Here’s what I made:

I didn’t take a photo of this project until after I had returned from OnStage, so please forgive any parts that may have been mashed or warped from transporting it or from folks handling it.

Create a wall of shelves with the Wood Crate Framelits by Stampin' Up! This one is for a baby or kid room, with toys as well as some of the parents' stuff. #stampcandy

Here’s what I did:

  • Wood Textures Designer Series Paper (DSP) cut in 1/2″ strips

Stamped with the Hardwood background stamp:

  • in Smoky Slate ink onto both sides of die cut crate pieces (see below)

Stamped with the Vertical Greetings stamp set:

  • potted tree in Smoky Slate and Garden Green inks, and colored in the trunk with a Chocolate Chip marker, onto Whisper White CS

  • Blushing Bride CS
  • Soft Sky CS (ended up using only 2 pieces)
  • So Saffron CS
  • Pear Pizzazz CS
  • Wisteria Wonder CS
  • then stamped with Hardwood background stamp (see above)

Fussy cut with Paper Snips:

  • all the items on the shelves

Assembled the project:

  • strips of DSP glued onto a piece of 8″ x 10″ CS (any color) for paneling
  • 9 crates assembles with glue
  • crates glued to each other and onto paneling
  • attached items to inside of crates with strips of CS in each crate color. I folded each CS strip into a triangle for a “stand” and glued it to the back of the item and to the bottom of the crate (see photo below)
  • put the whole thing into an 8″ x 10″ frame
