Here’s another sneak peek of the Wood Textures Suite of products. When looking on the internet for pictures of crates, I kept seeing photos of markets with crates overflowing with flowers. That’s where I got the idea for today’s card. I used the Jar of Love bundle to make the flowers and leaves.
Here’s what I made:
Here’s what I did:
Cut and scored with my Stampin’ Trimmer:
Soft Sky card stock (CS) cut to 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″, then scored in half at 4-1/4″
Watercolor Paper cut to 5-1/4″ x 4″
Whisper White CS cut to 5-1/4″ x 4″, for inside
Wood Textures Designer Series Paper (DSP) cut to 1/2″ strips, for inside
Colored with Aqua Painter and Ink Refills:
upper 2/3 of Watercolor Paper in Soft Sky ink
lower 1/3 of Watercolor Paper in Early Espresso ink
Stamped with Wood Words stamp set:
sentiment in Basic Black ink onto a small scrap of Very Vanilla CS
Stamped with the Jar of Love stamp set:
smallest flowers in Melon Mambo ink onto Whisper White CS
largest flowers in Marina Mist ink onto Whisper White CS, stamping off once for the lighter shade
medium flowers in Wisteria Wonder ink & Elegant Eggplant ink onto Whisper White CS
longer leaves in Old Olive ink onto Old Olive CS
smaller leaves in Pear Pizzazz ink onto Pear Pizzazz CS
Die cut using the Wood Crate Framelits:
3 crate pieces from assorted Wood Textures DSP, then trimmed away all but the long slatted side
sentiment with tag die
Die cut using the Everyday Jars Framelits:
all the flowers and leaves
Used Sponge Daubers:
darkened edges of Watercolor Paper in Soft Sky and Early Espresso inks
darkened edges of tag in Crumb Cake ink
Assembled the card:
flowers and leaves glued onto the crates, sticking through the crate slats and spilling over the top of the crates
three crates full of flowers adhered to Watercolor Paper with Stampin’ Dimensionals, one over the other
tied Linen Thread onto the tag, then adhered tag to front crate with Mini Glue Dots
Watercolor Paper glued to front of card base
Whisper White CS glued to inside of card base
1/2″ DSP strips glued around Whisper White CS inside

And now, todays project. I made a bunch of products for the OnStage display board using the new Wood Textures Suite. When I saw the crescent moon shaped die, I knew I had to make an outhouse. I mean, isn’t that the first thing that came to your mind? No? Just me? Well anyway, check it out. I thinks it’s cute as can be.
Here’s what I made:
Die cut using the Home Sweet Home Thinlits:
2 pieces of Wood Textures Designer Series Paper (DSP) with the house die
1 piece of scrap card stock (CS) with the house die
Die cut using the Wood Crate Framelits:
moon out of one DSP door
Created a template for the inside:
cut the door off of the CS piece, then cut off the top half of the door
traced around the bottom part of the door on another piece of scrap CS
measured and used a ruler to draw the rest of the template: sides, top, and bottom
cut another piece of the DSP with my Paper Snips, using the template
cut the hole for the “seat” with the 3/4″ Circle Punch
Made the grass for around the outhouse:
cut pieces of Old Olive CS to fit around the bottom of the house
used Paper Snips to cut cut cut all the grass blades, being sure not to cut all the way through to the other edge
crumpled the blades with my fingers
Made the toilet paper:
I used a scrap of Whisper White CS (approximately 1/2″ x 8″)
used a Smoky Slate Stampin’ Write Marker to draw tiny “perforations” along about 1-1/2″ or so of one end
put a tiny bead of glue down the side without perforations, leaving about 3/4″ at the end without glue
roll up with your fingers (you might find it helpful to wrap it around a wooden skewer to get it started) leaving the “perforated” end free
Assembled the outhouse:
two DSP die cuts glued together to make the house, leaving open the side that has the moon
insert folded into shape and glued inside the house
toilet paper roll glued to the seat
grass pieces glued to the sides of the house

Today I’m sharing another sneak peek of the Wood Textures Suite. For this card I used the Wood Words stamp set, the Wood Crate Framelits, and the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper (DSP) along with the Hearth & Home Thinlits. When I saw this piece of the DSP with the logs, I immediately thought of a wood pile. I created a place to stack them: beside a wooden house, underneath a wooden window, with a rooster on top ready to announce the morning.
Here’s what I made:
Here’s what I did:

Early Espresso card stock (CS) cut to 4-1/4″ x 11″, then scored in half at 5-1/2″

Very Vanilla CS cut to 3-3/4″ x 5″, for the inside
Stamped with the Wood Words stamp set:

rooster image in Cajun Craze ink onto the 3-3/4″ x 5″ Very Vanilla CS
sentiment in Early Espresso ink over the rooster on the 3-3/4″ x 5″ Very Vanilla CS
Die cut using the Wood Crate Framelits:
rooster stamped onto scrap of Very Vanilla CS
Die cut using the Hearth & Home Thinlits:
window from Wood Textures DSP
Fussy cut with Paper Snips:
logs from Wood Textures DSP
Assembled the card:
adhered strips of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon to the back of the window with Fast Fuse
window adhered to front DSP layer with Fat Fuse
logs adhered to front DSP layer with Stampin’ Dimensionals
die cut rooster glued to window
front DSP layer glued onto front of card base

A couple weeks ago I had the honor of presenting the new Wood Textures Suite at Stampin’ Up!’s OnStage event. I made quite a few samples, which I had planned to share with you closer to June 1, when the new 2017-2018 Annual Catalog goes live. But since I’ve been in bed with the flu, and haven’t made anything else, I figured I’d go ahead and give you some sneak peeks of this terrific new suite of products. Today’s card features the Wood Crate Framelits and the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper, along with the Pretty Kitty stamp set.
A huge thanks to my sister, Judy Newsome, for fussy cutting most of the cats for me!
