3 NEW Sale-a-bration items!

Have you seen the three NEW Sale-a-bration items that you can get FREE with any $50 purchase?

One of them is Metallics Glitter Tape, and I love it! I really dislike the mess that glitter can make, but nothing comes off this tape, so it’s super easy to add bling neatly! You get three colors in the pack – gold, silver, and white – AND you can color the white with your Stampin’ Up! inks to coordinate with all your other Stampin’ Up! supplies!

Metallics Glitter Tape

Here’s a video about the Metallics Glitter Tape.

The other two new Sale-a-bration items are stamps sets that are bright and cheery and perfect for Spring:

Party Pants has sweet, celebratory sentiments that fit on the balloon image. And the balloon goes perfectly with the Balloon Bouquet Punch, which is available in a bundle (to save 15%) with the Balloon Celebration stamp set.

Here’s a suggestion. You could get the bundle, a pack of note cards & envelopes, and a couple of ink pads, which would be enough to get you the Party Pants stamp set FREE! See below for ordering info.

Thanks for Botanical Gardens

bot thanks rsr b wm

I recently came across some cards I made when I was at the Stampin’ Up! home office a few months ago, and realized I had never shared them with you. Today I’m sharing one of these Make & Takes using the Botanical Gardens Bundle in the Occasions catalog. This is a three piece bundle – when you buy Botanical Blooms stamp set, Botanical Builder Framelits Dies, and Botanical Gardens Designer Series Paper together, you save 15%! And you qualify for a free Sale-a-bration item!

bot thanks from rsr a wm

The card base is Cajun Craze card stock with a Whisper White CS layer on top.

The card front is a piece of Botanical Gardens Designers Series Paper that we stamped with the Botanical Blooms stamp set. We cut the edge off a piece of 1-1/4″ Burlap Ribbon and frayed it a bit, then attached it along the back edge of the DSP with Fast Fuse. This heavy duty, dry adhesive is perfect for the heavy ribbon.

We stamped on another sheet of the DSP and cut the leaves out with the Botanical Builder Framelits Dies. We cut the Cajun Craze and Hello Honey flowers with the same die set. We glued all these pieces onto the card front, and attached a Rhinestone Basic Jewel with a Glue Dot in the center of the flower.

We used Glue Dots to attach the Botanical Garden Jewel and the Linen Thread bow.

We glued on the wooden sentiment from the Expressions Natural Elements.

Friendship is… New Sale-a-bration Items!

friendship tree card b

I made this card a while back but never got around to posting it. It’s probably one of the simplest cards I’ve made in a very long time. One stamp set, two pieces of paper, two ink pads, and glue.

The Sheltering Tree stamp set from the Annual catalog, is very versatile, which is something I really like in a stamp set. Of course, you can make a tree with out without leaves: with grass, fallen leaves, or flowers scattered around; maybe on a small hill; with a bike, rake, or swing. But for this card I wanted something a little different.

Sheltering Tree stamp set

I wanted to create the effect of lying under the trees and looking up at the sky, like some photographs I’ve seen.

I stamped the tree branches in Early Espresso around the perimeter of the Soft Sky card stock layer, with the tops of the trees toward the center of the paper. Then I stamped the leaves over them in Mossy Meadow. I used darker colors, because looking up, you would mostly see the silhouettes of the trees against the bright sky.

friendship tree card a

I wanted to use this sentiment, but it’s a long, thin one that wouldn’t fit the way I wanted. So I inked a different part of the stamp each time with an Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker. Then I cleaned it and inked up the next part.  It was easy to line up because you can see right through the photopolymer stamps.

NOTE: When using this technique, make sure you clean and dry the stamp well between stamping the different parts.

I glued this layer to the front of a Mossy Meadow card base. To write inside the card, you could glue a piece of Whisper White or Soft Sky CS to the inside of the card, but I like to use a White Uniball Signo Gel Pen to write directly onto the dark CS.

Wildflower Fields for 45 Years

45 large numbers card b

Every time I say the name of this Designer Series Paper from the Sale-a-bration catalog, I think of the old Beatles song that goes, “Strawberry Fields forever…” I call it Wildflower Fields forever.

I love to mix different products, like using two different stamp sets or two different Designer Series Papers, on the same card. Today I’ve paired a piece of Wildflower Fields DSP with a piece from the Pretty Petals DSP Stack. They have Calypso Coral in common, but the neutral colors are different: Wildflower Fields has Whisper White and Pretty Petals has Very Vanilla. I don’t normally use those two colors together, but I did like these two DSPs together, so I had to find a way to make them bond.

Pretty Petals DSP stack a

I tried a few different ribbons with either Whisper White or Very Vanilla/natural in them, but in the end the Lost Lagoon 5/8″ Striped Cotton Ribbon seemed perfect. It matches the Lost Lagoon flowers in the upper panel AND it matches the Very Vanilla in the bottom panel. I would have expected the natural color of the ribbon to clash with the Whisper White directly above it, but I find this particular combo pleasing to the eye. Imagine that the top panel is a big bunch of flowers in blue, white, coral, and yellow, and that the bottom panel is a basket or other container in coral, natural, and blue.

The Lost Lagoon card base frames the card, and the numbers pull more of that color into the center of the card, helping with the overall balance.

I stamped the sentiment from the Number of Years stamp set in Lost Lagoon on Hello Honey CS; and I cut the numbers with the coordinating Large Numbers Framelits Dies. I could have stamped the numbers first, then cut them out, but in this case I thought the solid CS would pop better against the busy DSP. I used the Banner Triple Punch to notch one end of the sentiment.

By the way, the stamp set and dies are available in a bundle to save 15%!

I attached the ribbon with Fast Fuse, the numbers with Stampin’ Dimensionals cut into small strips, and everything else with glue.

All that was left was to line the Whisper White Medium Envelope with a piece of the same Wildflower Fields DSP. I cut it with the Envelope Liners Framelits and glued it into the envelope. There are three dies in the Envelope Liners set, and they cut liners to fit perfectly into Stampin’ Up’s Medium Envelopes (in Whisper White, Very Vanilla, or Crumb Cake,) Note Card Envelopes (in Whisper White or Crumb Cake,) and Whisper White Square Envelopes. I’ll post links to all these products below so you can see them for yourself.
