We used brand new goodies this month at Stamp Club: the newest Paper Pumpkin kit to make a gift bag and two cards, and some new In Colors to make a note card.
Here are a few samples from the May 2015 Paper Pumpkin kit.
Everyone working hard on their projects.
Such concentration!
Here’s Margie with her In Color card. We used the You’ve Got This stamp set and the stamping off technique. Check back for more details.
Martha with her bag and 3 cards. She stamped the sentiment on one of the Tangerine Tango balloon die cuts, and put it on the front of one her cards.
Judy with her bag and 3 cards. For one of her Paper Pumpkin cards, she changed the orientation (vertical/portrait instead of horizontal/landscape) and attached bows made using the Bow Builder Punch.
Yes, you read the title correctly, and no, I’m not stammering. Today’s card is a Paper Pumpkin Pals Paper Arts 253 card (say that three times really fast) meaning that I used my Paper Pumpkin kit for this week’s PPA253 Sketch Challenge.
Here is this week’s sketch by Nicole Watt.
This month’s Paper Pumpkin kit makes gift bags and cards perfect for birthdays and other occasions to celebrate. I cut pieces from one of the cards and put them on a Tangerine Tango card base. The sentiment is stamped in Island Indigo on Whisper White, then matted on Tangerine Tango. I rounded the corners with the Project Life Corner Punch. Three Daffodil Delight Candy Dots finish it off.
I like the jagged bottom of the sketch, but I was afraid that would be too much with the diagonal stripes of the card, so I opted to cut a curve. I used a pair of Craft Scissors for this – it was easier to keep a smooth line going than with smaller scissors like the Paper Snips. The Craft Scissors are wonderful for cutting ribbon. I have a pair that I use only for that purpose – I keep a ribbon tied around the handle. While I love the Paper Snips and use those most of the time, sometimes I like long scissors for paper as well, so I have a second pair of Craft Scissors I use for that.
The sentiment layer is attached with Stampin’ Dimensionals to add some interest.

When I first got the new Cotton Paper I wasn’t sure what to do with it. It seems similar to tissue paper, but it’s slicker and stronger. It comes in 4 colors: Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry, Cucumber Crush, and Watermelon Wonder.
While at a recent weekend retreat, Cindy Schuster (of Nutmeg Creations and the Stampin’ Up Artisan Design Team,) Lana Alsobrook, and I put our heads together to figure out just what we could use it for. Here’s what we came up with.
Using the Mini Treat Bag Framelits Dies, cut the bag from a sheet of Watermelon Wonder Cotton Paper. Stamp flowers in black Staz On ink on the shinier side of the paper. Also stamp the smaller flowers on a 1″ x 8-1/2″ strip of Whisper White card stock. Assemble the bag, then adhere the white strip around the top, overlapping in the back.
For the tag, stamp the sentiment in Versamark ink on Basic Black card stock, heat emboss in white, then cut with the Deco Labels Framelits Dies. Punch a hole in the top with the 1/8″ Handheld Circle Punch, then tie it onto the bag with Basic Black Bakers Twine.
Punch a flower from Watermelon Wonder card stock using the flower punch from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack. Put a Whisper White Candy Dot in the center, then adhere the flower to the tag.
I happened to have a piece of white tissue paper, so I cut along one side with the Fringe Scissors, then tucked it into the bag with the fringe hanging out.
I think our group effort turned out well, don’t you?
Need something sweet to put little goodies in for someone dear? Or even for yourself? Try stamping a Mini Muslin Bag. They’re pretty darn cute as they come, but with the Crazy About You stamp set, some ink, and buttons, they become something truly special.
I cut a piece of cardboard that just would fit inside the bag. This provided a flat stamping surface, and prevented any ink from seeping through to the other side. I stamped the images in Calypso Coral and Pear Pizzazz. It looked great as it was, but I decided to color over the stamped images with Stampin’ Write Markers in the same colors to darken and fill them in more.
Here are both sides of the bag lying flat.
Did you know that the Crazy About You stamp set from the 2015 Occasions Catalog has 33 stamps? 33 stamps!I used the three image stamps for this project, but the 30 verbal stamps are amazingly versatile. Order yours today!
