March 2021 Candy Hearts Blog Hop – Spring

March 2021 Candy Hearts Blog Hop, Spring #CHBH #stampcandy

Welcome to the March 2021 Candy Hearts Blog Hop! This month we are featuring Spring themed projects. Be sure to hop to the next blog on the list, Pam Morris of Tap Tap Stamp. If you get lost, scroll down to see the list of hoppers.

My project features the True Love Designer Series Paper, which is all black and white. I love it because you can make it any color you want. The card has quite a bit of black on it, which may not seem very Springy. But I though the Spring colors really popped off the black background. What do you think?

I also used the Butterfly Gems which come in the 2019-2021 In Colors. This is the first time I’ve ever used them. I know! Crazy! How have I neglected these little beauties for so long? They will retire less than two months, so I plan to use them as much as I can until then. (Of course, I do use retired products, but not on anything I post on my blog.)

Bouquet of Hope for February 2021 PPPBH

PPP Paper Pumpkin Possibilities Blog Hop

Welcome to the February 2021 PPPBH. This month’s kit is called Bouquet of Hope and it makes beautiful sympathy cards. I know these aren’t the most fun cards to make, but in my experience, it’s best to have them already made and on hand when you need them. I altered the kit to make a shabby chic style card and box: cut the stems from the large bouquet die cuts from the kit, and added smaller flowers to cover the cut area; flipped the gold doily over to the white side; and created a pop up insert for the card.

If you are reading this in email, some photos may appear blurry, or may not appear at all. Please click here to see the post on my blog.

Here’s what I did:

Cut and scored with my paper trimmer:

  • Basic White card stock (CS) cut to 5-1/4″ x 8″, then scored in half at 4″, then scored at an angle along the top left corner (when it’s closed)
  • NOTE: make sure you score both sides to create the V in the middle of the card
  • 2019-2021 In Colors Designer Series Paper (DSP) cut to 4-1/8″ x 5-7/8″ (you may have to adjust a little for your box)

Stamped with the Bouquet of Hope stamp set:

  • outer sentiment in Mossy Meadow ink onto the included label
  • inner sentiment in Mossy Meadow ink onto the Basic White CS insert
  • small flowers in Rococo Rose ink onto the front of the Rococo Rose card base

Cut using Paper Snips:

  • the bow & stems cut from 2 large flower bouquets
  • about 1/2″ to 3/4″ or so from the bottom stems of another large bouquet

Colored using a wedge of a Stampin’ Sponge:

  • edges of Basic White CS card insert, DSP, and box

Assembled the card:

  • burnished the folds in the card base and the insert with a Bone Folder
  • insert glued onto the inside of the card base, being sure not to glue the top center portion
  • doily adhered onto the front of the card base using Stampin’ Seal (you can use the glue dots in the kit)
  • small yellow flower glued onto a large bouquet with no stems
  • bouquet adhered over the doily using Stampin’ Dimensionals
  • sentiment glued onto the bouquet
  • 3 sequins applied onto the card front
  • bouquet with a bit trimmed from the bottom glued onto the left side of the pop up inside the card
  • small cluster of flowers glued over the stems

Assembled the box:

  • burnished the folds in the box with a Bone Folder, then folded in the sides to assemble
  • DSP glued onto the box top, covering the top and 2 sides
  • small yellow flower glued onto a large bouquet with no stems
  • bouquet adhered onto the top of the box using Stampin’ Dimensionals

February 2021 IRBH – Balloons

IRBH 02-2021

Welcome to February 2021 IRBH! During this year’s blog hops, we are having fun with our stamping favorites – our favorite themes for seasonal cards and projects. This month’s projects feature balloons, so you are in for a celebratory treat. We are excited to share our creations with you today! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post, Brian King at Stamp with Brian. There’s a lot of inspiration to be found in this group and you don’t want to miss it!

My card is very simple. It’s a card base with some punched and die cut shapes and a small sentiment. The balloons are made with the Ice Cream Cone Builder Punch – the scoop of ice cream flipped upside down looks like a bear or mouse, and I thought it would make adorable balloons. I used several soft colors of card stock for this baby card. You can buy each color separately of course, but most of the colors come in a multi-pack. I’ve listed them all at the bottom of this post.

If you are reading this in email, some photos may appear blurry, or may not appear at all. Please click here to see the post on my blog.

Here’s what I did:

Cut and scored with my paper trimmer:

  • Basic White Thick card stock (CS) cut to 4-1/4″ x 11″, then scored in half at 5-1/2″

Stamped with the So Sentimental stamp set:

  • sentiment in Highland Heather ink onto a scrap of Basic White Thick CS

Cut using the Stitched So Sweetly Dies:

  • sentiment

Cut using the Ice Cream Cone Builder Punch:

  • scoops from scraps of Petal Pink, So Saffron, Soft Sea Foam, Balmy Blue, and Purple Posy CS

Assembled the card:

  • burnished the fold in the card base with a Bone Folder
  • white twine adhered onto the back of the upside-down-scoop-balloons using Tear & Tape
  • 2 of the balloons glued onto the front of the card base, near the top
  • a couple of mini Stampin’ Dimensionals applied onto the front of the card base, where the sentiment will go, with a tiny gap between them about 1/8″ wide
  • strings of the balloons strung between the mini Stampin’ Dimensionals, and held in place with a piece of Post-It Tape (or you could use a Post-It Note) I left the backings on the dimensionals for this part.
  • So Sentimental Ice Cream Bear Balloon Baby Card #stampcandy
  • 2 more balloons adhered beneath the first ones using Stampin’ Dimensionals, and the strings added to the first ones
  • the fifth balloon adhered using Stampin’ Dimensionals in the center, and glue along the top where it overlaps the 2 balloons above it, then the string added to the others
  • So Sentimental Ice Cream Bear Balloon Baby Card #stampcandy
  • 2 Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals applied onto the back of the sentiment, one at each end, making sure there is space between them for the strings and two dimensionals on the card front
  • So Sentimental Ice Cream Bear Balloon Baby Card #stampcandy
  • backs of all four dimensionals removed and sentiment adhered over the strings
  • ends of the strings trimmed using Paper Snips (I keep a separate pair just for ribbon.)
