Celebrating OnStage with Wood Textures Suite for TA Blog Hop

Welcome to the Thailand Incentive Trip Achievers Blog Hop for April 2017. This month our theme is “Onstage April 2017”.

Onstage is an event held for Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrators only, where we get to see, feel, and play with brand-new soon-to-be-released products. This event was based on the brand new 2017-2018 Annual Catalog.

Stampin' Up! 2017-2018 Annual Catalog #stampcandy

We want to show you some of the highlights of this event and hope that you can join us and other Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrators in the future. Just one more reason to join my team!

Eight members of my team attended along with me, and we had a blast. We even had matching shirts, cups, and earrings!

Nine of us attended OnStage Savannah, April 8, 2017 Stampin' Up! #stampcandy

Judy Newsome, Debbie Catlett, Caitlin Jones, Candy Ford, Linda Krueger, Missy Wiedeman, Donica Williams, Tamara Burton, and Kimberly Laidley.

My favorite thing about OnStage is seeing the demonstrators I only get to see at events like this. Well, and making new demonstrator friends. Oh, and the presentations. And the project ideas. And participating in swaps. And getting the newest catalog before anyone else. And getting some of the brand new products FREE before anyone else has even seen them. And pre-ordering new products before anyone else. So yeah, basically all of it.

Here are some shots from OnStage:

We weren’t yet allowed to show the new products, so that’s why we are hiding the stamp sets we won during Prize Patrols. Debbie Catlett, Donica Williams, Caitlin Jones at 2017-04-08 OnStage Savannah by Stampin' Up! #stampcandy

That evening, after OnStage was over and everyone had some dinner, Brian King’s team gathered in his suite for a Pajama Jam. We had snacks and went through the new catalog page by page. Of course, the Candy Hearts had matching pjs for the event (though not everyone has on their pj bottoms yet in this photo.)

I’m not sure what happened between these two shots, but Brian definitely had something to do with it. The camera caught him before he could get away. You can check out Brian’s blog post today for more photos of the Pajama Party.

Here’s what I made:

I was honored to present the new Wood Textures Suite of products at OnStage Savannah, and to create a display board of projects made with them. Today I’m sharing one of those projects. At first I filled the crate with a bag of Easter color Peanut M&Ms tied with a piece of the brand new Pool Party Solid Baker’s Twine.

Happy Easter with the new Wood Textures Suite by Stampin' Up! #stampcandy

Then I realized the M&Ms might be too heavy. The crate would be attached to a display board with velcro, and I was afraid the weight could cause the crate to warp or even tear. I found some small, lightweight Easter egg ornaments at Target, so I used those instead. (Most of my other display crates had miniature marshmallows in them for the same reason.)

Happy Easter with the new Wood Textures Suite by Stampin' Up! #stampcandy

The “grass” in the crate is some shredded gift bag filler I had on hand.

Here’s what I did:

Die cut using the Wood Crate Framelits:

  • Wood Textures Designer Series Paper (DSP) using the crate die (2 pieces)

Stamped with the Wood Words stamp set:

  • floral image in Pool Party ink onto one slatted side of the crate

Stamped with the Teeny Tiny wishes stamp set:

  • sentiment in Pool Party ink onto a scrap of Whisper White card stock (CS)

Stamped with the Falling Flowers stamp set:

  • small flower in Pink Pirouette ink over sentiment

Die cut using the Stitched Shapes Framelits:

  • sentiment

Assembled the crate:

  • two crate bottoms glued together, then tabs glued to sides to form crate
  • sentiment adhered to front of crate with Stampin’ Dimensionals

Here’s the hop:

Thanks for taking part in our blog hop, there are so many amazing ideas and inspiration you don’t want to miss. Remember that currently you are at my blog (Candy Ford at stampcandy.net) so check the blog hop line up list to see who is next in the list. You don’t want to miss any of these!

Be sure to follow the hop all the way around to try to win as many as you can! And, of course, to see all the wonderful projects being shared by the hoppers.

Here’s what I made for today’s ICS Blog Hop:

Blog Candy for the April ICS Blog Hop! Succulent Garden DSP and Oh, So Succulent stamp set, Stampin' Up! #stampcandy

The card’s layout is very simple and versatile. I chose to line up all the layers at the top right corner of the card base, but you could line them up at any of the four corners, or you could center them all. The banner could go in either direction as well.

Scroll down to see how I made today’s card and what I used.

To follow the Blog Hop, click on the arrow, and you will be taken to the next stop, Janey Backer at Inspired Stamping.

Here’s what I did:

Cut and scored with my Stampin’ Trimmer:

  • Whisper White Thick card stock (CS) to 4-1/4″ x 11″, then scored it in half at 5-1/2″
  • Succulent Garden Designer Series Paper (DSP) to 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″
  • Whisper White CS to 3-1/2″ x 4-3/4″
  • Succulent Garden Designer Series Paper (DSP) to 3-3/8″ x 4-5/8″
  • Whisper White CS to 2-7/8″ x 4-1/8″
  • Succulent Garden Designer Series Paper (DSP) to 2-3/4″ x 4″
  • Whisper White CS to 5/8″ x 4-1/2″
  • Calypso Coral CS to 1/2″ x 4-1/2″

Sentiment from the Oh, So Succulent stamp set:

  • dusted Calypso Coral CS strip with the Embossing Buddy
  • stamped sentiment in Versamark ink onto the strip
  • poured White Stampin’ Emboss Powder over sentiment, then flicked off the excess
  • set with the Heat Tool – be sure to hold small pieces like this with a wooden clothes pin or metal tweezers, to prevent burning your fingers

Notched using the Banner Triple Punch:

  • the right end of the Calypso Coral CS strip with the sentiment
  • one end of the Whisper White CS strip

Assembled the card:

  • the five rectangular layers glued together as shown then glued to card base. See the note below the photo about the layout.
  • plain end of Calypso Coral CS strip trimmed with Paper Snips so the sentiment feels centered, then glued onto Whisper White CS strip, lining up the notched ends
  • sentiment banner glued onto card front then the excess hanging over the edge trimmed away with Paper Snips.
  • NOTE: I lined up the left edge of the Calypso Coral strip with the left edge of the largest DSP layer. Then I trimmed away the excess Whisper White with my Paper Snips. In determining how far from the top to put the banner, I aimed for about 1/3 down the length of the smallest DSP layer. I just eyeballed it, but I was shooting for twice as much space beneath the banner as above it (the space on the smallest DSP layer.) I think it’s actually a little higher than that. But it was already glued down. And I was too lazy to redo it. So there.

I am honored today to help promote Autism Awareness by participating in the Autism Speaks April Blog Hop. The theme of this hop is, appropriately enough, Autism. We have created projects using the Autism Colors: red, blue and/or yellow.

…the lifelong cost per individual with Autism is estimated to be $3 – 5 million dollars.

Here’s why Autism Speaks:

Amy Koenders is a wonderfully talented Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, and mother of a beautiful Autistic child, Emily. Please help Amy’s fund raising efforts by clicking here to go to her Autism Speaks Fundraiser page. It’s very easy, and it takes just a minute. If everyone gave just $1-2, it would make a world of difference.

I used Whisper White Note Cards & Envelopes – these are wonderful to have around for quick and easy card making (they also come in Crumb Cake.)

The boy card has a piece of Soft Sky card stock (CS) glued to the card front. I stamped the images from the Any Occasion stamp set in Soft Sky ink onto a piece of Whisper White CS, attached a Bow Paper Clip, then glued it to the card front.

The girl card is the same except for the color (Blushing Bride) and instead of the paper clip, I tucked in half a Lace Doily, and added a Blushing Bride heart from the Subtles Enamel Shapes.

Easy peasy!
