ICS Blog Hop – Passion for Punches

It’s time for the August edition of the Inspire, Create, & Share Blog Hop! This month our theme is Passion for Punches. I’ve decided to feature a brand new punch from the 2018 Holiday Catalog (which is now live!) It’s called the Sprig Punch and it’s part of the new Joyous Noel Suite on pages 28-29. You can buy it bundled with the Peaceful Noel stamp set to save 10%!

For some reason I keep calling this a Twig Punch instead of Sprig Punch. Even though “Sprig” makes more sense, once I get something wrong like that in my head, it’s hard to remember the right word. So if I missed correcting “Twig” anywhere in this post, know that I mean “Sprig.”

Here’s what I made:

ICS Blog Hop August 2018, Passion for Punches, Sprig Punch, Peaceful Noel Bundle, Stampin' Up! #stampcandy

Here’s what I did:

Cut and scored with my Stampin’ Trimmer:

  • Joyous Noel Designer Series Paper (DSP) cut to 12″ x 3-1/4″
  • scored DSP along the long side at 4″, 6″, and 10″
  • scored DSP along the short side at 2″

Cut using Paper Snips:

  • cut away the two 2″ x 1-1/4″ sections from the DSP

Stamped with the Peaceful Noel stamp set:

  • sentiment in Merry Merlot ink onto a scrap of Shimmery White cardstock (CS)

Cut using the Sprig Punch:

  • 3 sprigs from a scrap of Tranquil Tide CS

Die cut using the Layering Ovals Framelits:

  • sentiment

Decorated the box:

  • DSP glued onto a Lustrous White Mini Gable Box
  • *excess pieces trimmed around the top flaps of the box using Paper Snips
  • folded in bottom flaps of box, first the long tab with two arms, then the two short sides, then tucked in the long flap with one arm
  • put treats in the box, then closed the top by tucking the top tabs through the slots on the end tabs
  • ribbon tied around the box and tied in a bow, then *notched the ends of the ribbon using Paper Snips
  • sprigs glued onto the back of the sentiment
  • sentiment adhered onto the front of the box, over the ribbon, using Stampin’ Dimensionals

Peaceful Noel Merry Christmas Sneak Peek

Today’s card features a sneak peek of two new products from the 2018 Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog: Peaceful Noel stamp set and Merry Christmas Thinlits Dies. Both of these products are available in a bundle with other products, but I liked them together for this card. I actually started by stamping the wreath in the corner. Then I decided I liked this large die cut sentiment with it. I love how easy it is to mix and match Stampin’ Up! products!

The sentiment is die cut from gold Glimmer Paper. I like the look of glitter, but I do not like the mess it can make. That’s why I have rarely used Glimmer Paper in the past. But beginning in the 2018-2019 Annual Catalog, the Glimmer Paper is new and improved. I was told by someone at Stampin’ Up! that the glitter is now milled into the paper, instead of being glued on top of it. There absolutely is no loss of glittery shine – it looks the same. The available colors may be the same as before, but the paper doesn’t shed any glitter now. I’ve cut it with my trimmer and with paper snips, and I’ve die cut it, and I have yet to find a single piece of loose glitter. Not one! You can rub your finger over it and nothing comes off.  I just can’t tell you how excited I am about this mess free Glimmer Paper. I mean, I’m talking zero glitter mess! Woohoo!

And did I mention there are 3 new colors of Glimmer Paper in the 2018 Holiday Catalog? Copper, Merry Merlot, and Tranquil Tide, which go with the new Joyous Noel Suite.

Here’s what I did:

  • Crumb Cake card stock (CS) cut to 5-1/2″  8-1/2″, then scored in half at 4-1/4″
  • Real Red CS layer cut to 5-1/4″ x 4″
  • Whisper White CS layer cut to 5″ x 3-3/4″
  • Whisper White CS cut to 5-1/4″ x 4″ for the inside of the card

Stamped with the Peaceful Noel stamp set:

  • wreath in Crumb Cake and Real Red inks onto the Whisper White CS layer using a Stamparatus
  • see instructions on stamping a wreath with the Stamparatus in my post here
  • to stamp the wreath in the corner, start with a piece of paper larger than you need
  • then move the same corner of that piece of paper around to the 8 different points of the template
  • then cut the paper down to the desired size

Die cut using the Merry Christmas Thinlits:

  • sentiment from gold Glimmer Paper

Assembled the card:

  • burnished the fold in the card base with a Bone Folder
  • sentiment glued onto the Whisper White CS layer
  • Whisper White CS layer glued onto the Real Red CS layer

Ready for Christmas Glimmer Tree Card

The theme of the swap at our July Candy Hearts team meeting was Christmas in July. For mine, I used the Ready for Christmas stamp set, Christmas Staircase Dies, Under the Mistletoe Designer Series Paper, and the new and improved Glimmer Paper.

If you’ve followed me for a while, you know how I feel about glitter. I like the look of it, but I abhor the mess it makes. Well, no more! The fine glitter is actually milled into the new Glimmer Paper. I cut it on my trimmer and die cut it on my Big Shot, and I never saw a single piece of glitter come off the paper. Not one! I rubbed my thumb across it and nothing came off! I think you’ll be seeing more glittery bits on my projects from now on!

Here’s what I made:
