Today I’m excited to share a card made by one of my Candy Hearts team members, Debbie Catlett. Everything she makes is amazing. Her attention to detail and eye for pretty cards make her projects some of the best I’ve seen. She continues to amaze each month at our Hearts gathering with her swap cards. For today’s project, Debbie used the new Heartfelt Blooms stamp set from the 2018 Sale-A-Bration catalog along with the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper and Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies to create a beautifully rustic thank you card.
The Heartfelt Blooms stamp set is made using a new process to create a photorealistic image with only one stamp. Similar images typically use 2 – 3 stamps applied in layers, such as the Sweet Little Something stamp set.
AND the Heartfelt Blooms stamp set is FREE with a $50 order, but only through March 31, 2018. Be sure to take advantage of this amazing Sale-A-Bration opportunity.
Here’s what she made:

Here’s what she did:

Today I’m sharing another beautiful card from my friend Penny Nelson of Designs By Penny. She combined the new Charming Cafe Bundle from the Occasions Catalog with the Bundle of Love Specialty Designer Series Paper from the Annual Catalog to create this really lovely card.

Here’s what she made:

Here’s what (I think) she did:
Cut and scored with a Stampin’ Trimmer:
- Very Vanilla Thick card stock (CS) cut to 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, then scored in half at 4-1/4″
- Very Vanilla CS cut to 4″ x 5-1/4″
- Bundle of Love Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP) cut to 4″ x 2-5/8″ (2 pieces: one Blushing Bride, the other Very Vanilla with gold foil)
- Very Vanilla CS cut to about 3″ x 1/2″ (*Since this is a rubber stamp, I think it would be easier to stamp the sentiment first, then trim around it.)
Stamped with the Charming Cafe stamp set:
- image of table & chairs in Memento black ink onto a scrap of Very Vanilla CS
- sentiment in Memento black ink onto the small Very Vanilla CS strip*
Colored using Stampin’ Blends Markers:
- image of tables & chairs in Smoky Slate, Pink Pirouette, Crumb Cake, and Old Olive
Die cut using the Layering Squares Framelits:
Used a Sponge Dauber:
- applied Blushing Bride ink around the edges of the sentiment
Assembled the card:
- burnished the fold in the card base with a Bone Folder
- 2 DSP pieces glued onto the 4″ x 5-1/4″ Very Vanilla CS
- Gold Mini Tinsel Trim glued to the line where the 2 DSP pieces meet, and wrapped around to the back
- this whole DSP layer glued to the front of the card base
- square image adhered to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals, being careful not to put dimensionals across the center, so it will straddle the gold trim
- sentiment adhered to the DSP with Stampin’ Dimensionals

Dec 31, 2017 | Cards, Challenges, Gallery, Guest Stamper, Holiday, New Products, New Year, Techniques |
Whether you go out partying all night or just run around the corner for a minute, please be careful out there. I hope you all have a very happy – and safe – New Year’s Eve.
On December 17, I hosted the December Candy Hearts Team Meeting and Christmas Shindig. We had a lot of fun with demonstrations, Make & Takes, yummy food, and talking – and yes there was a whole lot of laughing. Our swap theme was New Year’s, so today I’m sharing the Hearts’ swap cards. I know you’ll agree with me when I say that these are some very talented card makers.

Here’s what they made:
Debbie’s card has a Whisper White card base and a layer of Year of Cheer Designer Series Paper. It includes Year of Cheer Washi Tape & Embellishments, a Foil Snowflake, and a sentiment from the Cheer to the Year stamp set cut with the Pretty Label Punch.

Judy’s card has a Berry Burst card base with a layer of Foil Frenzy Designer Series Paper. 2018 has been cut from the DSP layer with the Large Numbers Framelits Dies, then adhered with Foam Adhesive Strips. This is the Eclipse Technique. Metallic Edged Berry Burst Ribbon (a sneak peek from the upcoming 2018 Occasions Catalog) and a sentiment from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set are the final touches.

Great minds think alike! Lonita also used the Year of Cheer Designer Series Paper and a Foil Snowflake, but her card has a Basic Black card base. The sentiment is heat embossed on a piece of Basic Black card stock, and layered with a circle cut with the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies and the snowflake. A piece of Silver Sequin Trim finishes off the design.

Oct 10, 2017 | Cards, Gallery, Guest Stamper, Techniques |
The eclipse technique is all the rage right now. It looks difficult and complicated, but it’s deceptively easy. At the September Candy Hearts Team Meeting, Judy Newsome demonstrated this technique, and we all got to make this awesome Fall card that she designed. The Vintage Leaves stamp set and the Large Letters Framelits Dies are the stars of the card.

Here’s what she made:

Here’s what she did:
Cut and scored with my Stampin’ Trimmer:
- Very Vanilla Thick card stock (CS) cut to 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″, then scored in half at 4-1/4″
- Fresh Fig CS cut to 5-3/8″ x 4-1/8″
- Very Vanilla CS* cut to 5-1/4″ x 4″
- Very Vanilla CS* cut to 1/2″ x 3″
- * the top layers can be either regular or thick Very Vanilla CS, but the card base needs to be the thick CS
Stamped with the Vintage Leaves stamp set:
- assorted leaves in Fresh Fig, Always Artichoke, Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze, and Early Espresso inks onto the Very Vanilla CS layer
Stamped with the Sunshine Sayings stamp set:
- sentiment in Fresh Fig ink onto the Very Vanilla CS strip, then cut the ends into points with Paper Snips
Die cut using the Large Letters Framelit Dies:
- four letters: F A L L
- Line up the letters on the Very Vanilla CS layer (with leaves) and run through the Big Shot
- Keep all pieces that are cut, including the little triangle from the center of the A
Assembled the card:
- 5-1/4″ piece of Burlap ribbon adhered to the Very Vanilla CS layer with Tear & Tape, then wrapped ends around to the back side (or you could use Fast Fuse)
- Very Vanilla CS layer glued onto the Fresh Fig CS layer
- letters placed into their negative spaces and adhered with Foam Adhesive Strips
- glue the center piece of the A to the Fresh Fig CS layer down in the raised A
- Fresh Fig CS glued onto the front of the card base
- sentiment adhered to the burlap ribbon with Stampin’ Dimensionals
